Reports are that the ferry operator had tied up the ferry for the night and retired. During the night the river rose six feet in two hours because of the heavy rains above that point. The ferry, being tied, could not rise with the water. Traffic is being detoured around by Hollis School House until the ferry can be floated or some other arrangement made.
