James W. GRADY, of Stroud [Chambers County], at present one of the representatives from Chambers county in the [state] legislature, was elected cashier [to replace T. B. WOOD] and accepted. Mr. GRADY is one of the most successful business men in East Alabama and one of the most popular personally. The acquisition of Mr. GRADY and his interesting family to Roanoke will be a valuable one, indeed. Mr. GRADY’s connection with the [Merchants & Farmers] bank does not begin till September first, and he has made no arrangements yet for moving to Roanoke. He desires it understood that his business at Stroud will be continued as heretofore. In addition to being chosen cashier Mr. GRADY was at the same time elected president of the institution to succeed Mr. R. W. GRIFFIN, who tendered his resignation as president some time ago.
