The arguments were heard on each side, but the Judge retains his decision till probably today. Nov 14, 1891: In the United States Court yesterday there were several cases disposed of.... The jury rendered a verdict of guilty in the case of Dallas Halpin who was tried and convicted at the last term of the court on a charge of retailing liquor without license. The court has not sentenced him. The counsel for the defendant has reserved several exceptions. It is probable a motion for a new trial will be made. Nov 17, 1891: Dallas Halpin, who was recently convicted for illicit distilling, was sentenced to thirty days imprisonment in the county jail and fined $100 and costs. Jan 20, 1892: Dallas Halpin was dismissed from custody at the county jail. He had filled out his sentence in jail for selling whiskey without a license. He had been convicted by the United States Circuit Court.
