HOOTON IS PRAISED BY ALEX CITY OUTLOOK ---------------------------- During the past week two former Tallapoosa county boys who have made good in their adopted homes have been in Alexander City. They are Prof. Herman L. UPSHAW, superintendent of public schools, and Robt. J. HOOTON, a well known attorney in Roanoke. Prof. UPSHAW is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. L. UPSHAW, who live out on Route No. 2. Prof. UPSHAW has a host of friends in this section who are always delighted to see him. He is on a visit to his old home accompanied by his bride, who was a Miss SHORTER before marriage, a member of one of Alabama’s most prominent and influential families. [HOOTON information copied separately] Both men have done much to reflect credit upon their native county [Tallapoosa]. —[Originally published in the] Alexander City Outlook [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 6 January 1915, p.1]
