The Tuskaloosa Gazette March 20, 1891
While Mr. Tap Hester, a well-to-do farmer who lives about eight miles northeast 
of Roanoke, was at supper last night, someone entered his room and carried off a 
small trunk containing $900 in money and $600 in notes.  No clue has yet been 
obtained.  The loss falls heavily on Mr. Hester, as he is a very old man, and it 
was his savings of years.  He and his wife lived alone.

Mr. Tapley Hester, who was robbed of $1,000 two weeks ago in Randolph County, 
assisted by his neighbors, has offered a reward of $110 for the apprehousion and 
delivery of Jack Bennett to the sheriff at Wodowee.
