His time of confinement had been thirty days. He had been tried by the United States Court some time since, convicted of Illicit distilling; and the above penalty imposed. He was probably the most aged prisoner that has ever been confined in this jail. Eighty years had spent themselves upon his head with no other effect apparently than to tinge his mien with gayety and whiten his head with locks of snow. He returned to his home in Randolph County.
