[From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 15 Nov 1911, p.1] ------------------------------ SILVER WEDDING WAS CELEBRATED ------------------------------ (By Mr. and Mrs. J. T. HEFLIN in Wedowee Nov. 28th. Elegant Affair) Wedowee, Nov. 30.-- Marked by quiet elegance and beautiful taste in all of its appointments was the celebration Tuesday of the 25th marriage anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John T. HEFLIN at their home in Wedowee. The hall in which the abundance of beautiful silver presents were displayed was artistically decorated in ferns and graceful vines of ivy, where delightful punch was served by Mrs. [J. A.?] PARRISH. From the hall the guests were ushered into the parlor by Mrs. [John W.?] OVERTON, where Judge and Mrs. HEFLIN, with their three lovely daughters, other members of the family and friends in the receiving line, received congratulations from a large number of friends. Judge and Mrs. HEFLIN might have been taken for bride and groom of the day instead of twenty-five years, so young in spirit and appearance were they. Mr. HEFLIN wore a handsome suit of black. Mrs. HEFLIN was stately and attractive in a lovely gown of gray messaline with bands of point d’espirit. The Misses HEFLIN wore dresses of white creation with trimmings of satin and fringe, with white shoes. The guests were later conducted into the large dining room, which was beautifully decorated with silver festooning, ferns and white carnations. In the center of the room was a table bearing twenty-five candles held in a handsome silver candelabra, reflected by a magnificent platter mirror. Delightful refreshments were served by Misses Mary Jim WEATHERS, Bovine STEWART, Annie Haden REID, Bettie Lou and Winnie HUCKEBA, who were dressed in white. On leaving the dining room Miss Ruth NICHOLSON gave to each a small silver bell bearing the dates. Mrs. McCLURE, of Roanoke, and Mrs. Will WEATHERS did much in assisting Mrs. OVERTON in entertaining the guests.
