The boy is about twelve years old says he has neither father nor mother and has been circulating around loose for some time. He walked to Salem all the way from Randolph County Ala. He can read and write and since falling in with his new protector is in high glee. That boy has "gum" in him and will yet make a man. The kind-hearted gentleman who has taken him in charge deserves credit.
