These outlaws inveigled Belcher out of his father's house, and after getting him some distance from the house, commenced shooting at him with their pistols, Belcher happened to have a pistol with him, and returned their fire, wounding two of the outlaws. The only reason for this outrage was, that Belcher had left his home in 1862 and served in the Union army and was with Gen. Sherman in his campaign. through Georgia.
