The mail pouch on the route from Wedowee; to Roanoke was broken open about four 
miles above here yesterday. Carrier J. W. Jones is missing. He is supposed be the 
robber. The mail destroyed and left in the woods. Seven registered letters were 
broken open containing about $75. Every letter in the pouch was broken open and 
left, together with the pouch, lying in the woods by a tree.
