Rev. J. L. Freeman Presiding Elder of the Birmingham district of the Methodist 
Episcopal church preached in town on yesterday. The whole town was astonished on 
last evening by hearing that Mr. John West and Miss Molley Murphey were married. 
The parties were so intent on keeping it a profound secret, that the license was 
not procured until after dark. The marriage was consummated at the residence of 
Mr. J. D. C. Murphey, the bride's father, Rev. J. L. Freeman officiating. We 
congratulate Mr. West, on his success, in winning one of Wedowee's most 
accomplished and beautiful young ladies.
