At a meeting of the Democratic party, this day held in Wedowee, to appoint delegates to the State and District conventions James Scales, Esq. was called to the chair, and W.H. Smith was appointed Secretary: the following preamble and resolutions were then introduced, and separately read and unanimously adopted. Whereas, it has been agreed by the democratic party of Alabama, to hold a convention at Montgomery on the first Monday in May, to nominate a candidate for Governor, and it has also been agreed by the democratic party of the seventh congressional district, to hold a convention at Wedowee on the third Monday in May, to nominate a candidate for congress, and believing that it is proper that the democracy of Randolph County should be represented in each of the proposed conventions. Be it Resolved That the Chairman, with the approbation of the meeting appoint thirty delegates to represent the democracy of Randolph to the democratic State convention to be held in Montgomery on the first Monday in May. Resolved, That the Chairman with the approbation of the meeting also appoint ten delegates to represent the democracy of Randolph, in the democrat congressional convention, to be held at Wedowee on the 3d Monday in May Resolved, that we leave the delegate; to each convention without instruction: as to the selection of candidates. Resolved, That the Jacksonville Republican and Sunny South be requested be requested to publish the proceedings of this meeting.
