B. McPHERSON, colored [agricultural] demonstrator for Randolph County, brought to the Leader office two bundles of as fine wheat as we have ever seen raised in this section, notwithstanding the fact that this has been what is termed an unfavorable season for the wheat crop. The wheat came from the farm of M. F. FEARS, a prominent negro [sic] farmer residing about two and a half miles delow [sic] town, and is not selected, but is only a fair specimen of the entire crop grown by this negro planter. FEARS is one of the few men who are putting into practice the knowledge obtained from a study of the advanced scientific methods as advocated and preached by the government demonstrators. He is an enthusiastic exponent of scientific farming and is reaping rich rewards from his own efforts in increased yield and improved products. It is high time that all of the farmers begin to adopt these methods and thus put an end to the yearly howl of hard times. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 9 June 1915, p.8]
