Holden was burned out of house and home by incendiaries. The marshal was in Montgomery in attendance on the United States Court end hie family were all away from home. From all the evidence the Deputy Marshal satisfied tint the incendiaries were moonshiners of the district. The interior of the house had been saturated with kerosene oil before the torch was applied. The house was a now one, the loss is estimated at $2000. The Montgomery Advertiser Yesterday morning Mr. A. Holden, a Deputy United States Marshal, while in the United States Courtroom, received a telegram from home which said that his house and all its contents were burned up Friday night. Mr. Holden lives in Randolph County, near the Georgia state line. The neighborhood he lives in is infested by moonshiners, and lately several raids have been made and some stills broken up. Mr. Holden as a Deputy Marshal assisted in some of the raids. He is a well-to- do farmer, owning about 1,000 acres or land. His house was right new scarcely completed and had no insurance at all on it or its contents. He says he had nine bales of cotton lying near the house, out don't know whether they were saved or not. His family all escaped. He left for home immediately.
