Norred and Miss Flossie Truett were married by Judge Moore on Sunday. --- ROCK STAND News March 1st This community was saddened when in the wee hours of last Saturday morning, the spirit of "Uncle Bold" Kirby took its eternal flight. The end was not unexpected as he had been in failing health for several years; however, recently his condition had grown rapidly worse. Uncle Bold spent most of his more than seventy-seven years in this section and left a host of friends to mourn his passing, besides seven sons, one daughter and a large number of other relatives. His body was laid to its last resting place at Zion's Rest on Sunday at noon. Revs. J.D. Dollar and J.H. Hughes took part in the services. --- HIGHWAY News March 1st Mr. Jep McManus and Miss Mattie Yarbrough were married at Highway church last Sunday, Rev. J.H. Howell officiating. --- LEVEL ROAD News March 1st Mrs. Mattie Bonner of Roanoke is spending several days with her daughter Mrs. Connie McCarter. --- Old "Aunt" Georgia Ann Ross, colored, who was seriously burned two weeks ago, died this morning. --- OFELIA News March 1st Sunday night, Rev. A.B. Robinson delivered a very fine discourse to a large and appreciative audience at the home of Mr. Lon Hampton. It was held for the benefit of Mr. Hampton's mother who is blind and unable to attend church. ---- WEDOWEE News March 2nd Miss Sallie Parker who lived with her brother-in-law Mr. Roy Messer, four miles north of Wedowee, died last week and was buried Saturday at Ava church. She was 55 years old and a good woman. --- LOCAL News Mr. Edmond Prideaux Lakeman of Haleyville, Ala., announces the engagement of his daughter Nell to Mr. Charles Hiram Snuggs of Roanoke, Ala., the wedding to be an event of March. --- MR. W.A. TRUETT AND MRS. SARAH DELOACH MARRIED At 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Mr. William A. Truett and Mrs. Sarah DeLoach were married at the home of the former's half-brother Mr. Charles Banford in Five Points. Rev. J.M. Yates officiated. The persons wed are well known people living in Roanoke. The best wishes of all their friends are extended to them. --- YOUNG ROANOKE COUPLE MARRIED ON SUNDAY Just after the congregation at the First Baptist church had left the building at noon on Sunday, Mr. Earl Frost and Miss Edyth Martin appeared and the pastor, Rev. W.P. Hines, was engaged to perform the rites which united them in marriage. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Frost. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Martin. The friends of these two well known young people unite in best wishes for their happiness. ---- MRS. MCBURNETT HONORED AT BIRTHDAY GATHERING Mesdames Kittie Lee Ward and Jennie Spinks were joint hostesses at a birthday party Feb. 21st in honor of their aunt, Mrs. Martha McBurnett at the beautiful country home of Mrs. McBurnett near Wedowee. The house was decorated with spring flowers. An enjoyable feature was the lastest music and speeches from the newest Victor machine. At the appointed hour the guests were invited to the spacious dining room where a delicious three course turkey dinner was served. Mrs. McBurnett was presented with the birthday came embossed in pink, containing 77 candles, also several presents. Among the gifts was a beautiful strand of pearls and a rich Amethyst, her birthday stone. This was sent by her niece and nephew Mr. and Mrs. Guy Amos of Birmingham. It was late in the day when the guests departed, wishing the honoree many happy returns of the day. Those invited were Judge and Mrs. Heflin, Mrs. Pittman and Miss Martha Pittman and Mrs. Mary Sharp of Roanoke; Judge and Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Fincher, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Weathers, Mr. and Mrs. John Carlisle, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Prescott, Dr. and Mrs. J.C. Swann. ---- MESSRS. AWBREY'S SISTER DIED IN BOWDON FEB. 24th Judge T.M. Awbrey was called to Bowdon yesterday to attend the funeral of his sister, Mrs. F.M. Barrett. He was accompanied by his daughter Mrs. G.J. Whitaker and her daughters Misses Mary and Hazel. Mrs. Barrett was reared in Heard County where she has a host of friends and was a lady of rare and charming virtues. The bereaved family has the sincere sympathy of friends throughout the county. Awbrey, prominent citizens of Roanoke who were called to her bedside several days previously by her illness. ----- LOCAL News Mr. Monroe Burdette is reported as quite sick. --- Mrs. Copeland of Pike county is visiting her daughter Mrs. Chester Redmond. --- Friends in Roanoke were pained to learn of the death on Monday of Mrs. Alwyn M. Smith, beloved lady of LaGrange. --- A card received by the Leader announces the birth of a daughter, Martha Augusta Thigpen, Feb. 14th, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thigpen of Tuscumbia. Mrs. Thigpen was formerly Miss Martha Blake of Roanoke. ---- LOCAL MARINE BOUND FOR PACIFIC ISLAND Mare Island, California, Feb. 24th A tiny tropical island far south in the Pacific will be the temporary home of John Cliett Weathers of Roanoke, Ala., who left this naval base recently for a tour of duty in Guam. He will probably remain abroad for a year or longer before returning to the United States. Weathers is 28 years old, a native of Roanoke, Ala., and formerly lived at the home of his mother Mrs. Clara E. Weathers, rural route 4, Roanoke. He formerly served in the Army. He joined the Marine Corps at Atlanta, Ga., in January 1924, and was stationed for a while in Santo Domingo, West Indies. Later he was transferred to the west coast being stationed in San Diego, California and Puget Sound, Washington. He came from the latter station to Mare Island to embark on the transport Thomas for further transfer to the Pacific Island where he is scheduled to arrive late this month. Guam was ceded to the United States shortly after the Spanish-American war. U.S. Marines are stationed there, guarding the naval base and living amid surroundings typical of the South Sea Isles. Supplies are furnished regularly while movie pictures, athletic sports and entertainments help to vary the regular military schedule. ----- LOCAL News Twins, a boy and a girl, were born Feb. 26th to Mr. and Mrs. S.R. McKay at Lillington, N.C. Mrs. McKay formerly lived here and is remembered by her friends as Miss Aileen Handley. --- W.F. Satterwhite has purchased the Arrington house and lot. --- S.H. Tatum and Mr. and Mrs. Brown Smith went to Abanda on Sunday to attend the funeral of their relative, Mrs. M.A. Champion, aged 63 years. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, March 10, 1926 DEATH OF MRS. McCLURG Last Friday Mrs. Henry McClurg met her death in a very unusual way at her home near Hickory, Flat. She was feeling ill and went to the veranda for some air, when she fell off the porch and broke her neck. The unfortunate tragedy has cast a gloom over the entire community. ---- A GOOD CITIZEN IS CALLED AWAY IN SAD TRAGEDY About five o'clock last Thursday afternoon, Mr. J.W. Stewart took his shot gun and went back on his farm out on Rock Mills road and while passing through a gate, accidentally dropped his gun, which was discharged, the load passing through his right leg below the knee. It was some time before he was discovered and thus he suffered the loss of considerable blood. In 35 minutes the ambulance reached him and carried him to the local hospital. An attempt was made to save the wounded leg but at one o'clock Saturday morning it was amputated as a last resort. The weak condition of the patient was such that he could not rally, death releasing him from his sufferings at 11 o'clock the same morning. A large concourse of friends, with members of the family, accompanied the remains Sunday afternoon to Standing Rock, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. N.H. Abernathy, assisted by Rev. L.D. Atkins of Five Points. The interment was made in the cemetery near by. Mr. Stewart spent the greater part of his life in the northern part of Chambers county where he had many friends, as well as in Roanoke, his adopted home. He was 54 years of age, a good citizen and a member of the Methodist church. He is survived by a widow and one daughter Mrs. Howard Taylor who was quite ill at the time of the deplorable accident. ---- FORMER ROANOKER DEAD Russell M. Striplin died in Atlanta last Sunday night as a result of the flu. When a young men he was on the police force in Roanoke with his uncle, the late Mr. S.H. Striplin. He was a prominent and successful citizen of Atlanta. ---- HAYWOOD News March 8th This community was saddened last Wednesday night when the spirit of Mrs. Doc Thurman took its flight. The end was expected as she was in failing health for two years. She was 52 years and seven months old and leaves a husband and daughter. --- WEDOWEE News March 9th Mrs. W.B. Lipham was carried to the hospital in Roanoke last Friday where she underwent an operation. Her husband was unable to accompany her, being confined to his bed with the flu. --- Mr. Bud Robertson of Arizona, son of Mr. W.C.S. Robertson, is visiting in Wedowee. His father has been very sick but is improved at this writing. --- Messrs. Byron and Bill Benefield of LaGrange moved to Wedowee last week. They will operate a blacksmith shop. Glad to have these new citizens. --- WEHADKEE News March 8th Mr. Alfred Hester who has been confined to his bed the past three years, had a stroke of paralysis last week. His wife has been in a hospital in Atlanta for several weeks. --- LOCAL News Mrs. T.R. Burgess returned Monday from Opelika where she spent a week in the home of her son Clement. --- Mr. Handley Godwin died in Atlanta on Monday and was buried at Lee's Cemetery in Rock Mills beat on Tuesday afternoon. --- T.J. Blackwell was called to Roopville, Georgia on Sunday to attend the funeral of his brother W.J. Blackwell who lived in Gainesville and was visiting his son when taken sick. He was buried with Masonic honors. --- CARD OF APPRECIATION We want our friends to know that we appreciate more than we know how to tell, the many acts of kindness, the hours of watchful waiting during the sickness and death of our husband and father. Lane and children ---- A PROMINENT CITIZEN OF CLAY COUNTY DIED IN FLORIDA Dr. Thomas Northen, who during the greater part of his long and useful life made his home in Clay county and was for many years one of the leading physicians in this section, died at the home of his daughter in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Monday and his remains were brought back to Ashland, his old home, for burial. The funeral party arrived with the remains Wednesday night and the funeral was held at the Methodist church today. Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Herren and family ---- DEATH OF MR. J.T. LANE OCCURRED ON THURSDAY In the early hours last Thursday night, Mr. James T. Lane passed away, after an illness of several weeks, having been paralyzed. He had reached the age of 70 years and had spent his entire life in the Lane's Chapel community, south of town; had lived in but two houses, not a mile apart. The funeral of Mr. Lane was held at the home church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor of the deceased, Rev. S.A. Owen, in the presence of a congregation that crowded the church, the major portion of those present being connected with the large Lane family, one of the oldest and best in this part of the state. Interment was then made in the Lane's Chapel cemetery. Mr. Lane was a good citizen and a faithful member of the Methodist church. He is survived by his wife and 8 living children, all grown. ----- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, March 17, 1926 WADLEY News Mr. Z.T. Veazey of Alexander City is spending the week with his son, G.H. Veazey. --- LADY BURNED TO DEATH AT STANDING ROCK ON THE 10th Wednesday at 9 a.m., the residence of Mr. J.M. Dean was discovered to be burning. Mrs. Dean was alone in the house at the time. She had been ill about a year and was only able to sit up part of the time. It is supposed that she fell into the fire. Her clothing became ignited and spread the blaze to the building. When the fire died down, the charred body of Mrs. Dean was found in the ruins. Before her marriage, Mrs. Dean was Miss Jessie Brewer and was reared in that community. She had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was forty-two years of age. She is survived by her husband, Mr. J.M. Dean who is a brother of Mr. John H. Dean of West Point, one son, Paul Dean and one daughter Mrs. Ruby Allen, both of Fairfax, Ala. The West Point News ---- OFELIA News March 15th One of the most interesting events of the season was the marriage last week of Miss Effie Morrison of Corinth community and Mr. Dewey Floyd of this place. The bride is a lovely, attractive young lady. Both are successful teachers in Randolph county. Glad to say they will reside in our community. --- Mr. Y.Z. Cockrell was in Anniston on Sunday, having carried 'Grandmother' Hampton to visit her son there for some time. --- Mr. Bill Kelly died Thursday morning and was buried at Ofelia on Friday afternoon. Rev. O.B. Roberson conducted the funeral services. Mr. Kelly was 75 years of age and was a good citizen. He leaves two daughters to mourn his loss. --- BACON LEVEL News March 15th Mrs. Winder Holder of west Texas is visiting her grandfather Mr. M.J. Ussery and other kindred here. --- HAYWOOD News March 15th One of Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Washington's little twins was burned on Thursday about three o'clock and died about eight o'clock Thursday night. Little Felton was one year, four months and twenty-five days old. He leaves a father, mother, two sisters and two brothers to meet him in Heaven. His little body was laid to rest Friday afternoon at Haywood cemetery. --- Mrs. Ann Hurley is ill. --- OAK HILL News March 15th Mr. Jim Pollard had a birthday dinner on March 13th. He was 81 years old. All had an enjoyable time. --- ALMOND News March 15th Dr. and Mrs. Andrew McClary and children of Wadley and Dr. and Mrs. E.K. Hodge and children of Daviston were at "Uncle" Jim Clardy's birthday dinner on Sunday. He was seventy-one years old on March 11th. --- WEHADKEE News March 15th Mrs. Ollie Davis died last Tuesday night at her home near High Shoals, after a short illness. The deceased was 56 years of age. She was a member of the Baptist church and lived a devoted christian life. She is survived by four grown children, two sons and two daughters, and her aged mother Mrs. S.S. Waller of Roanoke and several brothers and sisters. Interment was at Springfield on Wednesday afternoon, after funeral services conducted by this writer. --- WEDOWEE News March 15th Miss Minnie McManus and Mr. David J. Howell were married here Saturday by Rev. J.C. Grant. --- CORINTH (SOUTH) News March 15th A gloom of sorrow was cast over this community last Wednesday morning when the eath angel having entered the home of Mr. Jim Taylor on Tuesday night, conveyed his spirit away. He was 67 years of age and had lived in this community for a number of years. His body was laid to its last resting place at Forrester's Chapel cemetery last Thursday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. J.D. Dollar. Mr. Taylor leaves a wife, eleven children, 34 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. ---- HIGHWAY News March 15th It is sad to report the death last Friday morning of little Bertie Alsobrook, the five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Alsobrook. Interment was Saturday afternoon at Highway. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.H. Howell. --- TO BE MARRIED TONIGHT At 7:30 this evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Crowder in Bacon Level, their niece Miss Cordelle Morgan will be married to Mr. Charles Ralph Christian, a prosperous farmer living near Columbus, Georgia. W.T. Overton will be the officiating minister. ---- DEATH OF MR. W.J. BAGGETT Mr. W.J. Baggett, a good citizen of Lowell, died at eight o'clock Monday morning following a complication of health troubles. He is survived by his wife and a number of children. Funeral and interment was at Lebanon on Tuesday at noon. ---- DEATH OF AN AGED LADY Mrs. Mary Smith died at 4 o'clock last Friday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Satterwhite in LaFayette, being a sister of the latter and having made her home there in late years. She was a widow and over 80 years of age. Funeral and interment was at Mt. Pisgah on Friday afternoon. ---- LOCAL News Mr. W. Oscar Health, a prominent citizen of Fredonia, dropped dead last Sunday. --- Thomas Fowler, who works at Kirk's planer in Roanoke, was called to Anniston on Monday by the tragic death of his daughter Mrs. Beatrice Goodwin who leaves one child. ---- Mr. J.M. Nelson who moved to Jay, Florida some time ago, was called back to his old home country by the death last Thursday of his daughter Mrs. Mack Creed, near Milner. He returned home Saturday. ---- Sookie Gooden, a negro woman from Wedowee, underwent an operation at the local sanitorium yesterday. Her case is considered desperate. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, March 24, 1926 FORMER RANDOLPH COUNTY MAN DIED IN THE WEST MARCH 17th Denver, Colorado, March 17th Col. Algernon S. Reaves, a veteran of the Civil War and the Spanish-American War, and a close personal friend of Presidents McKinley and Roosevelt, died at a hospital here early today. He was 86 years old. During the Civil War, Col. Reaves commanded one of the most noted Confederate Regiments, the 13th Alabama, which led the charge at Gettysburg. He was twice wounded during the four years of strife. This distinguished citizen and soldier was born and reared in Wedowee, Randolph county, Alabama. He was a brother of the late Judge S.E.A. Reaves. The remains were carried to Hartsville, Tennessee for interment, from the Army hospital where he chose to spend his last days. From "The Gastonia, N.C. Daily Gazette News", Newspaper Issue of March 17, 1926 FAMOUS SPANISH WAR VETERAN DEAD Denver, Colo., Mar. 17th Colonel Algernon S. Reaves, veteran of the Civil War and the Spanish-American war, and a close personal friend of Presidents McKinley and Roosevelt, died at a hospital here early today. He was 86 years old old. During the civil war Colonel Reaves commanded one of the famous Confederate regiments, the 13th Alabama, which led the charge at Gettysburg. He was twice wounded during the four year strife. At the outbreak of the Spanish-American war he took command of the Third United States volunteers, at the request of President McKinley. During this time he became a close personal friend of Col. Roosevelt. He is survived by two sons, W. Hart Reaves who was at his bedside and Algernon S. Reaves Jr. of Frederick, Oklahoma. The body will be taken to Hartsville, Tenn., his old home for burial. ----- MR. D.C. CUNNINGHAM DIED AT SPRINGFIELD ON FRIDAY After a long period of ill health, Mr. D.C. Cunningham died last Friday at his home at Springfield. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church there by Rev. H.F. Keeble, pastor of the deceased, in the presence of many friends and relatives. Mr. Cunningham was 75 years of age and had been in failing health for many months. He is survived by his widow and seven children. The deceased had long been a leading citizen of his community, acting the part of a good citizen in all relations of life. --- MR. W.B. NICHOLS DIED SUDDENLY IN GADSDEN Many friends in east Alabama regret to learn of the sudden death at his home in Gadsden last Thursday night of Mr. William B. Nichols, who was for many years a prominent citizen of LaFayette. He was 63 years of age and a brother of the late Mr. F.P. Nichols who died in Roanoke two years ago. The remains of the former were brought to LaFayette for interment on Sunda morning, after funeral services conducted by Dr. W.P. Hines of Roanoke. Quite a number from this place attended. ---- TWO LAFAYETTE LADIES DIED ON MONDAY NIGHT At her home in LaFayette, Mrs. Zach Schuessler Sr. died suddenly Monday night. Funeral and interment will be in LaFayette at three o'clock this afternoon. She was long a prominent and beloved citizen of that place. On Monday night, another well known lady of LaFayette, Mrs. Yancey L. Burton, died at Tampa, Florida where she had been for some time, being in failing health. Her remains will be brought to her old home for interment. ---- WADLEY News March 22nd (NOTE: the left side of the page on the microfilm roll is cut off, not totally filmed, so difficult to transcribe) Last Thursday morning, Mrs. A.L. Kenady was relieved of her suffering by the death angel. She had been in declining health for several weeks. A.L. Kenady and Miss Anna H. ??? were married in 1898. To them were born three children, only one living, who is working in Birmingham. Mrs. Kenady was 55 years of age and been a member of the M.E. Church since girlhood. Her pastor Rev. ?? assisted in the services, Thursday afternoon. She was buried in the local cemetery. ---- WEHADKEE News March 22nd Twin girls were born to Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Heard recently. --- We are pained to note that Mr. R.T. Young is ill with flu and pneumonia. --- ROCK SPRINGS News March 22nd Mr. and Mrs. Felton Benefield of near Hobson community spent Saturday night and Sunday with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Whit Owen. --- Mrs. Hicks Mickle who was stricken with paralysis some time ago continues very ill. --- RADNEY'S CHAPEL News March 22nd Sorry to say that Mrs. Jim Strickland has relapsed with the flu and is very ill. --- CORINTH (SOUTH) News March 22nd Mr. O. Wright was bitten on the hand by a rattlesnake last week. --- MALONE News March 22nd Mr. Bob Johns of LaGrange is here with his father Mr. Steve Johns, who is very ill. --- Felton Kirk of Tallahassee, Fla., is visiting his mother Mrs. Hugh Malone and other relatives here. --- DEATH OF AN AGED LADY IN SAVANNAH ON SATURDAY Last Saturday occurred the death in Savannah, Ga., of Mrs. Lee R. Johnson who had been making her home in that city with a grandson the past two months. The deceased was a long time resident of Chambers county, Ala., and was 80 years of age. The remains were brought to Mt. Pisgah, her old home church and interred Monday afternoon. The funeral was conducted by Elder Satterwhite. ---- LOCAL News Mrs. O.S. Cook has received news of the recent marriage of her brother Edmond D. Bishop to Miss Lena Layne, the ceremony occurring in Detroit, Michigan where the groom has been working the greater part of three years. --- J.F. Gittings and family returned Sunday from Dadeville where they were called last Friday by the illness of Mrs. Gittings' brother Mr. Chilton Thomas, who died a few hours after they arrived. He leaves a wife and three children. The deceased died of flu and pneumonia. He was a good citizen. ---- Mrs. J.P. Slappey was called to Atlanta last Friday to attend the funeral of her kinsman, Mr. Zach P. Gunn, who died Thursday. Mr. Gunn lived in Roanoke many years ago and is a brother of Mr. W.J. Gunn of Wadley. He had met with good success in Atlanta. ---- Mr. Phillip Almon and family of near Carrollton spent Sunday in Roanoke with the family of W.W. Embrey returned some days ago from Texas where he was called by the death of his mother. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, March 31, 1926 WEDOWEE News March 20th Mr. Bill Anderson who lived at Hopewell in Cleburne county, died last Sunday. He was at Hopewell church conducting the prayer meeting and had started to read a chapter in the Bible when he dropped dead. Mr. Anderson was born and reared in Randolph county and was a brother ot the deceased Mr. M.J. Anderson, former commissioner of Randolph County. ---- BAILIFF SHOOTS A NEGRO SUNDAY A shooting occurred Sunday afternoon on the public road south of the Longshore place in which Eddie B. Shackleford, a negro, was shot through the leg near the knee. He was also struck over the head with the gun as a preliminary measure by Bailiff Otis O. Gay who has been called to arrest Shackleford. In response to inquiries from a representative of this paper, Mr. Gay gave the following report of the occurrence: He was called on by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Boyd to go out and arrest Shackleford who is reported to have stopped this couple at the scene where the shooting later occurred. He is further reported to have been drinking and is alleged to have cursed and intimidated the travelers. Two other negroes were with him, one of whom, Stell Walker, was later arrested on a charge of being intoxicated. The officer states that when he arrived and approached Shackleford the latter cursed him and threatened to kill him and that a struggle ensued in which he struck and later shot the negro. He ewas accompanied by Mr. Frank Beck. The wounded man was brought to town and given proper attention and then taken to his home on the Willis Redmond place. It is not thought that his injuries are dangerous. ---- DEATH OF A PROMINENT LADY IN BEAT 5 ON THE 30th At her home at Haywood, beat 5, Mrs. H.N. Shelnutt passed from this life on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 30th. She had been in poor health a year or more and was nearly 74 years of age. She is survived by her husband and eight grown children. This is the first death in the family. Interment will be made near the old home this afternoon, the funeral being conducted by Rev. S.P. Spiegel of West Point. Mr. and Mrs. Shelnutt have long been known and honored as among the best people in this section. They had lived about 40 years at their present home. Both have been active and useful members of the Christian church for half a century or more. ---- DAMAGE VERDICT IN THE FARR CASE IS SUSTAINED Last week the verdict of the circuit court of Randolph county granting damages to J.W. Farr in the amount of $8000. in a suit against the Alabama Power Company growing out of the death of the plaintiff's wife from lighting supposed to be conducted over a wire, was affirmed by the higher court. Whether another move will be made by the defendant power company has not yet been announced. ---- WEHADKEE News March 29th Columbus Turman, a respected colored citizen, is very low with flu and pneumonia. --- Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Pittman arrived last week from Lakeland, Florida to visit kindred in this section. The latter will remain some time with her mother Mrs. D.C. Cunningham who is very feeble. --- FRIENDSHIP News March 29th This community was saddened Saturday morning when the death angel called Miss Mollie Taylor to her reward. Aunt Mollie had been sick only a few days. She was 84 years of age and was long a prominent and beloved citizen of this place. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Zion's Rest. --- GLENN, GEORGIA News March 29th Mrs. Leonard Whitley spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. George Jacobs in West Point. --- Aunt Nancy Adamson who had the misfortune to fall and break her hip last week, is very low. She is 86 years of age. --- ROCK MILLS News March 29th R.D. Adamson and C.G. Adamson were called to the beside of their mother Sunday at Glenn, Ga. She is not expected to live. --- Mrs. Jim Head of Opelika was brought here for burial last Monday. She was 46 years of age. She leaves a husband and three children. She was loved by all who knew her. --- LOCAL News Coleman Turman, an excellent colored citizen, died Sunday at his home near Wehadkee. --- Mrs. D.J. Kirby has received an annoucement of the marriage of her son Horace to Miss Ethel McCarter, a member of a prominent family in Dallas, Texas. --- The following children of the late Mr. J.L. Weathers were called to Roanoke by the death of their father: Rev. and Mrs. D.S. Tooser of St. Petersburg; Mr. and Mrs. Homer Lanford and Mr. Frank C.
