Our home was just as happy as a home could be, And we thought not for a moment that such happiness could flee, But the bright-eyed being that came with us to dwell, Grew tired, faint and weary and at last he dropped and fell. We laid my precious papa in the cold grave to sleep, And I pray that God will lead us that some day we all shall meet. He is resting now so gently in Heaven till we meet, For God in his mercy will our precious treasures keep. We miss him, oh, so sadly from our sorrow stricken home, our hearts are torn with anguish since our darling papa's gone.
