Yates and family are visiting relatives in LaGrange. __ Alec Almon of Yellow Dirt, Ga., visited relatives here last week. __ LOCAL News G.W. Cox visited relatives in Macon county on Sunday. He was accompanied home by his wife's sister, Mrs. Daughtry. __ Mrs. T.B. Wood returned Thursday from Alexander City where she visited her sister, Mrs. A.S. Smith. __ A.E. White of North Carolina was a visitor to Roanoke a few days recently. __ Mrs. J.W. Fargason of Camp Hill is visiting Mrs. S.W. Lane. __ John T. Carroll was taken dangerously ill yesterday but is convalescing. __ J.T. Talley is making some nice improvements about his premises. He has built rock terraces in his yard and is enlarging his verandas. __ Our good friend "Uncle Bud" Hester called at our office Saturday and told us of a severe hail storm that visited his section around Hester's Ferry on Friday and did considerable damage to crops. __ NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, June 18, 1902 LOCAL News C.L. Parker of Wedowee was in Roanoke on Sunday, having come down to meet his mother and sister of Panama, Florida who are on a visit to relatives and old friends in Randolph county. __ Miss Matilda Zobel and her little niece Miss Bertha Stiritz who has been attending school here, left Monday for St. Louis. From there they will go to Indiana, the home of the latter, where the former will spend two months visiting relatives. __ A.A. Trammell, the negro whose wife was recently killed by the train, had his house burned Sunday with all its content. He is a good man and deserves help. __ Mrs. J.C. Burson died at Omaha on the 9th inst. __ W.A. Water's mother and sister-in-law, Mrs. Tice of Columbus, came to visit relatives here Monday. __ Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Prescott, Mrs. C.C. Enloe and Louise Thomason arrived here yesterday from Florida. Their many friends will be glad to hear the party will remain several weeks. The Wedowee Star __ NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, June 25, 1902 NORTH RANDOLPH News Old "Uncle Johnnie" Sellars, an aged citizen of this section, died on the 13th inst. He was about 90 years old. __ ROCK MILLS News Mrs. Holley and her little daughter Mildred returned from Atlanta recently where they have been staying for several months. __ Mrs. S.H. Striplin and her son Hiram of Atlanta are spending a few days with the former's daughter Mrs. T.T. Harper. __ Emory Mapp and Miss Winnie Harper were married a week ago yesterday. __ Charlie Laws of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of this place, visited relatives and friends here recently. __ WEHADKEE News Sam Arnett and wife of Georgia visited the latter's parents at this place Saturday and Sunday. __ Joe Allen has moved his saw mill over on the place of Thomas Weathers. He will cut the lumber for the new bridge. __ Albert Barnes has returned home after spending several months in Texas. He says he is willing to remain in old Randolph. __ LOCAL News O.W. Bradley from Griffin, Ga., is visiting his father's family here. __ In response to telegrams stating that Robt. Brown Jr. was critically ill in Tampa, Florida, his brother Joe Brown accompanied by Dr. Disharoon, left for that city on Monday. We trust that the sick man may speedily recover. __ Mrs. Clark Rawley of Lockhart, S.C. and Mrs. W.J. Ratchford of LaFayette, left Monday after a visit to their sister, Mrs. T.L. Belcher. __ The Wedowee Star makes mention of the marriage of Eli Hester, youngest son of J.M. Hester, to Miss Roxie Parker. Congratulations. __ A contemptible act was committed in beat seven last Wednesday night. Joseph and Frank Bradford had just purchsaed and put in place a saw mill plant and that night some wretch blew up the machinery with dynamite. The engine and boiler were wrecked. __ Mr. and Mrs. Worrell are spending some weeks with their daughter, Mrs. J.C.
