The entire family of Rev. and Mrs. W.T. Andrews are experiencing the joys of communion and association which separation of years has only served to sweeten. The reunion will last but a few days and all the friends of the beloved Methodist pastor extend welcome and good wishes to the worthy sons and worthy parents as they sojourn among us. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Andrews are as follows: Jas. D. Andrews, real estate agent, Nashville Rev. John B. Andrews, evangelist, Siloam Springs, Arkansas Dr. Charles F. Andrews, physician, Cedar Hill, Texas Rev. Wm. B. Andrews, pastor Methodist Church, Brownwood, Texas Milton Andrews, bookkeeper, Carbon Hill, Ala. Miss Ola Andrews, whose home is with her parents in this city. Dr. C.F. Andrews and Mr. Milton Andrews are accompanied by their wives. The gentleman named above are all successful in their several professions and are good and useful citizens. Needham from this county boarded the train here yesterday for Mexico. --- A daughter was born last Thursday to Mr. and Mrs. H.T. Hays. --- R.E. Taylor and family left yesterday to spend a couple of weeks at Chandlers Springs. --- W.L. Vickery returned yesterday from Montgomery where he carried his wife for treatment. --- R.J. Higgins of Florida arrived last week to spend the summer with his daughter Mrs. Wade Carlisle. --- It is reported that a negro named Will Marable shot and killed himself in LaFayette on Sunday after wounding his wife and little boy. --- Postmaster R.T. West left yesterday on a twenty day leave of absence to visit his mother at Ozark, Mo., and to attend a family reunion. --- We are in receipt of an invitation to the marriage of Mr. Ernest Marvin Haralson to Miss Louise Kirkland, to be celebrated July 11th in Houston, Texas. Mr. Haralson formerly practiced law in Roanoke and has many friends here who will learn with pleasure of his approaching marriage. --- Mrs. Mary Calhoun, who was here for medical treatment last week at the home of her father R.B. Hester, returned to her home in Omaha on Saturday much improved. --- J.B. Belcher left Monday on a trip through Oklahoma, Texas and the Indian Territory. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, July 12, 1905 LOCAL News W.H. Ellsberry, who is now an inmate of the Soldier's Home at Mountain Creek near Montgomery, spent a few days past in Roanoke. He had been up to Altanta to attend the funeral of his niece. Mr. Ellsberry was looking and feeling better than he had in years and gave a glowing account of the comforts and advantages of the Soldier's Home. His comrades say he was one of the bravest soldiers who wore the gray and all rejoice in the better life that has come to him in his latter days. --- Mr. G.W. Hill of the popular firm of Hill & Jones of Roanoke, Ala., with his son Mr. Watt Hill, was in town Friday. The Bowdon Intelligence --- ROCK MILLS News Mrs. John Pitts died Sunday night near Bacon Level community. --- A child of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Webb died this morning. --- Mrs. Annie Brown of Gainesville, Florida is visiting Mrs. Geo. Holley. --- Mrs. Eunice Yates and Miss Blanche Sims went to Atlanta last Thursday to spend several days with relatives. --- Mrs. D.M. Yates recently fell out the door and dislocated her shoulder. --- WEHADKEE News Will Graham shot himself through the hand a few days ago while handling a pistol, inflicting a painful wound. --- E.D. ANDREWS DEAD Captain E.D. Andrews, aged 70 years, for the last four years night watchman for the Anderson Hardware Company, was found dead on the second floor of the store about 5 o'clock yesterday morning with his pistol held tightly in his hand, his finger on the trigger and in his left hand a bunch of keys. Foul play is not suspected as there is no evidence that any one had been in the store, and no marks on the body which indicate that he had been dealt with fouly. The above account is taken from the Atlanta Constitution of Saturday and will be read with regret by the local friends of the deceased, who formerly resided in Roanoke and Rock Mills. ---- LOCAL News H.H. Cauthen has been enjoying a visit from his brother R.W. Cauthen of Columbia, South Carolina. --- Cornelius Reid and two children of Birmingham came Saturday to visit the former's brother, H.B. Reid. --- At an early hour this morning a little daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Jordan. --- The Moon family of this place enjoyed a visit a few days past from W.A. Moon and little daughter of Myrkel, Texas and Mrs. Mollie Rutledge and son Leonard of Columbus. All the members of the immediate family were present except Mrs. W.W. Langley. The gathering was a most enjoyable one. --- R.J. Hooton and family went over to Tallapoosa county Saturday to spend a week or so at their old home. --- James Hester went to Mason, Georgia on Saturday to teach the summer term of his school. --- Mrs. Dora L. Hoke and three children of Opelika are visiting relatives in Roanoke. --- Dixie Freeman arrived home Monday from Denver, Colorado after a stay of five years in that distant city. He is cordially greeted by his friends. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, July 19, 1905 NAPOLEON News Mr. Jim Nichols was married to Miss Tudie Mitcham last Sunday. Mr. Nichols lost a wife last February. --- LOCAL News The home of Mr. and Mrs. Brit Jones was brightened Sunday morning by the arrival of a charming little Miss who will be the center of attraction in that household for some time to come. --- John Redmon was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Adams on last Sunday at the bride's home near Milltown. --- Mrs. John Ussery went to her former home in Lee County on Friday to visit relatives. --- Thos. Gauntt came over from West Point, Georgia on Thursday to spend a few days with his uncle T.C. Goodwin. --- Deputy Sheriff Parker recently landed in jail here a negro who killed Neely Stevens about three years ago. --- Mack Wilson, a white man, killed a negro named Sim Hardy in Heard County on Saturday afternoon. He claimed self defense and was set free by the coroner's jury. --- Mrs. Davis and daughter of Texas are spending some time with Mrs. Davis' brother J.V. Simmons of this place. --- Thos. J. Embrey and wife boarded the train here Thursday to visit relatives in Oxford and Anniston. --- Mrs. A.S. Brannan continues very ill. --- Mrs. J.D. Ellis and children of Anniston are visiting the former's sister Mrs. J.W. Radney. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, July 26, 1905 HAPPY LAND News Jno. and Royal Pinkard have just returned from Elmore county where they have been visiting relatives. --- ROCK MILLS News Miss Blanche Sims returned from Atlanta on Sunday where she had been visiting her uncle, W.C. Harper. --- Henry Duke and wife of Atlanta are visiting Joe Harper. --- SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. BIRDSONG Mr. and Mrs. Lem Birdsong who live near Springfield, came down to Lowell last Sunday to spend the day with the family of the latter's father, Mr. Sant Yarbrough. During the forenoon Mrs. Birdsong was taken violently ill which developed into convulsions. Despite the best efforts of several physicians she died about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The interment was at Rock Mills on Monday afternoon. This sad demise calls forth the sympathy of all. --- LOCAL News Mrs. N.E.L. Peavy and youngest son returned Friday to their home at Radney's Chapel from a visit to the former's daughter Mrs. Ernest Welch. --- Harper Lane, a son of T. Lane of Heard County, Georiga, and who recently attended school in Roanoke, has been spending some days with relatives in this vicinity. His friends will be interested to learn that he has recently been licensed to preach. --- We have received a lengthy account of the fifth family reunion of the large family of Mr. and Mrs. James Pearson, held the 21st day of July, which we have not space now to publish. There are 84 members of this family all told, and the reunion was an occasion of great pleasure. Religious services constituted a special feature of the day. The Leader trusts that many more such reunions may be enjoyed in the life of the venerable father and mother. --- Miss Katie Holley is the guest of her sister Mrs. Glover Trent. --- F.P. Nichols and family are attending a family reunion at Cusseta. --- H.J. Turns came home Friday.
