Taylor is now acting as night marshall. --- S.W. Elder has moved to LaGrange. --- Tom and Claud Bell are enjoying a visit from their parents Rev. and Mrs. J.C. Bell of Cleveland, Georgia. --- J.W. Thomason of Graham was in town Saturday enroute to visit a relative in LaGrange and to attend the grand lodge of Masons in Montgomery. --- Mr. and Mrs. Hurt are enjoying a visit from the latter's brother W.P. Pruett and his bride who were married in St. Stephens last Wednesday. --- G.R. Manley left with his family yesterday to try their fortune near Anadarko, Oklahoma. --- Nath Mulloy and family left yesterday to make their home in eastern Texas. --- A phone message from Standing Rock announced that Horton Hines, youngest son of T.J. Hines, died Monday afternoon of the fever. He was thought to be doing better when suddenly he relapsed and died. --- A note from T.J. Holder who has been living several years at Senoia, Georgia asks that his paper be changed back to Wedowee, which we infer that he is moving back to this county. He is a good citizen. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, December 11, 1907 LOCAL News W. Ezra Johnson spent yesterday in Roanoke and his many friends were gratified to see him again. He has been out West for two years. This morning he left for New York where he has a fine position as a traveling salesman with a leather goods company in that state but will still travel in the West as heretofore. --- W.M. Fisher, a good citizen of Beat 8, went out to his field Saturday morning after a basket of corn, taking his shot gun with him. In some way, the gun was discharged, the contents entering the head, killing Mr. Fisher almost instantly. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, December 18, 1907 CORBIN News Wallace Huey arrived back from Texas recently. He says Randolph county is good enough for him. --- WEHADKEE News J.P. Lewis visited relatives at Frolona, Georgia on Saturday and Sunday. --- Luther Benefield has sold out and moved to Marion County. --- T.J. Holder and family have moved back to their old home near Paran. Mr. Holder had the misfortune to lose his dwelling house by fire in Senoia, Georgia a few weeks ago. --- Will Brown is preparing to move to Marion County. --- LOCAL News J.S. Brown of Oregon was the guest of his brother R. Brown the first of the week. --- T.G. Burpee of Newnan was the guest of his brother, S.C. Burpee on Saturday and Sunday. --- Mrs. Escar Pittman and two children left last week to spend a year with her parents near Omaha, Texas. --- J.G. Calloway, a good colored farmer of the Ocre neighborhood, stopped in our office Saturday and paid for his paper. He has been taking the Leader for three years and says he wants to keep it coming. --- H.R. Reaves, who lives ten miles north of Wedowee, was in town Monday and reported he discovered a large mica mine on his farm which is now being developed. --- Rev. R.W. Anderson returned Monday from a visit to his aged and infirm father at Iron City. --- Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Young of Louisville are visiting relatives in Roanoke and vicinity. --- J.W. Jeffers and wife arrived Sunday from Virginia to spend the holidays with the family of the former's brother, J.A. Jeffers. --- Last Sunday morning, J.E. Edmondson of the Omaha section was married to Miss Mendie Johnston in Lowell community. Rev. J.M. Yates performed the ceremony. --- Three families from Glenn, Georgia, boarded the train here yesterday to make their homes near Gainesville, Texas. They were the families of Brantley Banks, Posey Johnson and Mrs. M.C. Davis. ---- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, December 25, 1907 NAPOLEON News Dec. 19th Mr. Lem Kirby and Miss Avis Hurley were united in marriage here last Sunday. Esquire Yates officiated. --- The infant of Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Barton was burned to death on Monday morning. The mother was at the washplace when the sad incident happened. --- LOCAL News Mrs. R.G. Rowland and children of Ashland are visiting relatives here. --- Mrs. Ward of Sumpter county arrived Tuesday to visit her son, Prof. McDonald. --- Dr. C.M. Mickle of Texas, Georgia called to renew his subscription. --- John Will Neely and C.F. Adams arrived last week from Sardis, Miss., to visit the family of F.M. Adams. Mr. C.F. Adams will remain for some time. --- W.E. Mitchell was called to his old home at Talbotton, Georgia last week by the sudden death of his mother. His father and married brother wish to move to Roanoke if they can secure a residence to move to. --- N.E.L. Peavy was a caller at the Leader office on Saturday. From him we learn that he is expecting his son and daughter-in-law from Texas to spend the holidays with him. The younger Mr. Peavy has not been here in twelve years. --- Mrs. W.M.
