Certain it is that he rules in Cuba with as easy sway as in the United States. In evidence of this, invitations were received in Roanoke yesterday to a marriage, to occur in Cuba, in which the former Roanoke man plays the part of groom. In the Methodist Church in Camaguey, Cuba, will occur on August 6th the marriage of Rev. James P. Lancaster to Miss Elsie Whipple. The groom-to-be was on a visit to friends in Roanoke a few weeks ago. He was educated in Roanoke and is held in high esteem here. For several years he has been a missionary in Cuba and is now pastor of the Methodist church and principal of the English School in Camaguey. Miss Whipple is also a teacher in this school. She is a native of South Dakota, graduated at Boston University a year ago and volunteered for foreign mission work. Thus strangely and probably providentially the lives of these two young people have been brought from distant states, together on a foreign field. May the romance so auspiciously begun find a happy fulfillment in a married life of usefulness and joy. ---- File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/al/randolph/newspapers/newspape693gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/alfiles/ File size: 10.2 Kb
