JONES Whereas, the Supreme Architect of the Universe, in his inscrutible wisdom, has seen fit to remove from the walks of men our Bro. Toliver N. Jones; and whereas, it is fitting that the lives and memories of good men be perpetuated and suitable tributes paid them; therefore, be it resolved by Hickory Flat Lodge of A.F. & A.M. assembled, first; That we cannot understand why such men as bro. Jones should be taken from us in the prime of life and usefulness. We have faith to believe that God doeth all things well, so we bow our heads and with aching, yet trusting hearts, say "thy will be done." 2nd; that in the death of Bro. Jones is exemplified the truth, that "death loves a shining mark", for in his life he exemplified the religion he professed. Quietly yet continuously he went about doing good. In the Sunday school he was always to be found at his post of duty. Throughout the years that have passed, many aching hearts among his pupils bear tribute to their old teacher and superintendant. In the church was his glory, always ready to do the part assigned to him, be it to talk, to pray, to sing, to pay. HIs pastors found in him one to hold up their heads. His home was their home. 2rd; that Masonry has lost in him one who loved his order and his brethren, one who was faithful to his obligations and put in practice in his daily life the tenets of Masonry, remembering his vows and living up to them. He was a father to young Masons, a strong arm to the widow and orphans of his brethren. 4th; that his family has sustained an irreparable loss in the husband, father and grandfather. We commend them to the love of the brethren and the mercies of the God he loved and served and to whom he has gone. 5th; that this Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days; that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the Secretary's book, a copy be given to the widow, and published in the Roanoke Leader and LaFayette Sun.
