D.L. PARRISH DEAD Last Wednesday, Rev. D.L. Parrish passed away in Florence, after a long period of ill health. He was serving as presiding elder at the time of his death. Mr. Parrish was one of the oldest and most respected members of the conference. He served the Roanoke Circuit four years, about two decades ago. His labors yet abide and he is gratefully remembered by many of our readers. Misses Marie and Lurline Parrish of this city are granddaughters of the deceased. --- WADLEY News June 3rd Miss Amber Liles came here last week from Livingston where she has been in school the past year, to meet her father's family, Mr. Jim Liles, who returned last Sunday from Kentucky. They will make this their home. We are very glad to have this family back in Wadley. --- Mrs. Roscoe Roberts and children are the guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gay. --- BACON LEVEL News June 3rd Mrs. Lou Ann Lay has returned to G.W. Allen's, fater spending some time near Glenn, Ga. with Dee Allen and wife. --- LOCAL News Fount Lane is working in the LaFayette Sun newspaper office for the present. --- Shaffer Hill is sick at the home of B.O. Driver. --- Charles Tenant Jr. was called to Atlanta on Saturday to see his nephew Will Noles who is seriously ill. --- Amos and Olin Mooty went to Franklin, Ga on Monday to see their father who was seriously ill but is now convalescing. --- Mrs. Ethel Branch and son from Woodville, Ga., are visiting Mrs. C.W. Pace. --- W.S. Green returned Sunday from Corinth in the northern part of the county where he carried his wife to the bedside of her father B.F. Rodgers who was critically ill. News was received on Monday that the latter had died. Until eight years ago he lived at Opelika. --- Mrs. C.W. Moran and daughter Ruth of Linton, Ga., are visiting the former's sisters, Mrs. J.A. Wilson and Mrs. J.A. Carlisle. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, June 12, 1912 LOCAL News James, the afflicted son of J.T. Lee, died yesterday at the latter's home near Stroud. --- Mrs. W. H. Duke and child of Birmingham are the guests of Mrs. E.R. Waller. --- Guy and Clinton Rodgers of Columbus spent a few days this week with their cousin G.L. Rodgers. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, June 19, 1912 WADLEY News Mr. John Tom Fuller and Miss Nannie Hand were quietly married at the home of Mr. J.W. Roberts Thursday evening, Rev. C.C. Godbey performing the ceremony. --- Mrs. W.H. Treadwell and children of Oxford are visiting the family of C.C. Treadwell. --- ABANDA News June 18th Mrs. P.B. Tatum who has been seriously ill for quite a while, continues very low. --- ROCK MILLS News June 17th Mrs. Daniel of Columbus is visiting her brother O.C. Bagley. --- J.B. Jones continues very ill. --- Last Sunday, William Lover went over to Woodbury and was married to Miss Bessie Lovett. --- Last Thursday night, Mr. N.T. Foster was summoned to the beyond after a long illness of cancer. He had been a resident of this place for many years and made one of our best citizens. Funeral services were conducted by R ev. W.R. Avery at Wehadkee where the body was laid to rest. The deceased leaves a wife, two daughters and three sons. To each of them we extend our sympathy. --- Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Kenney will return to Atlanta on Tuesday, after a visit to their mother Mrs. N.T. Foster. --- Mrs. Genie McClendon and children of Lanett are visiting the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mat Pitts. --- LOCAL News Miss Vivian Green of Shelby County has come to spend some time with her brother W.S. Green. --- Leon and Luther Fuller arrived Saturday from Beaumont, Texas to spend several weeks with the family of their father, J.T. Fuller. --- V.E. Kitchens went to Heflin to spend some days with his brother. --- Mrs. Mary Jeffers left Friday for her old home at Perkins, Ga., where she will spend a few months. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, June 28, 1912 WILL NOLES DEAD A telegram yesterday at noon announced the death in Atlanta of Will Noles, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Noles. His uncle, W.T. Tenant Sr. left at once for that city. The remains, accompanied by relatives, will arrive here today an be taken to Wedowee for interment. The deceased was only 23 years of age and his untimely demise from that dread disease tuberculosis, is most melancholy. --- BACON LEVEL News June 24th Mrs. John Pitts died here Saturday and was buried at RockMills Sunday afternoon. She had been confined to her room for several weeks and for three weeks to her bed. Rev. S.L. Dobbs conducted funeral services at the Methodist church. --- LOCAL News W.C. Norred of the Rock Stand community boarded the train here Saturday to visit his married daughters at West Point and Bremen, Ga. --- Mildred and Kathlene Smith of Alex City are visiting their aunt, Mrs. T.B. Wood. --- Mrs. F.W. Skinner and children of Birmingham are visiting the family of Geo. W. Stevens and other relatives. --- Mr. and Mrs. B.G. Sanders are preparing to leave tomorrow to spend a few months at the seashore and among the mountains of North Carolina. --- The Leader has received from Mr. William Anderson Mulloy the announcement of the marriage of his daughter Miss Hortense to Mr. Ben Hill McLeod, June 18th at Tifton, Ga. --- WADLEY News Mrs. Alice Morgan of Birmingham is visiting her sister Mrs. J.S. Blanton. --- WEHADKEE News June 24th Inez Shearer died last Tuesday after a long illness. The deceased was highly respected by both white and colored people. --- C.A.
