LEE WARD BROUGHT HOME TO HER FINAL REST There was a tearful assemblage of friends at the Baptist church Tuesdsay morning at 11 o'clock that gathered to sorrow with the husband and relatives of Mrs. Lee Ward, whose gentle spirit had fled away to the land of perennial spring time. The former class associates of the departed one were there, taking their position on either side of the entrance and aisle as a special mark of honor as the funeral party entered. The services then conducted by Rev. Mr. Rucker, assisted by Rev. Glenn, were exceedingly touching and appropriate. The interment was in the local cemetery. This untimely death occurred early Monday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward in Birmingham, resulting from pneumonia. Another very lamentable feature of this sad case is that her two children are dangerously ill of the same dread disease. Mrs. Ward, who was formerly Miss Clara Brittain of this city, was a loveable christian character who had many strong friends. These sympathize with the family so sorely bereaved. In Birmingham, the neighbors of the Wards, we are informed, demonstrated in every way possible their real appreciation and friendship. The same was true of the people of Roanoke, when the "loved and lost awhile" was brought back home for her last, long sleep. ---- MR.
