The joy of meeting old friends and acquaintances was more to him than something to eat for the time being. The Bowdon Bulletin --- Mr. J.T. Fuller is in very feeble condition. --- A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Noland in Lowell on Saturday night. --- Marvin Stewart, wife and two children arrived Saturday from Oklahoma, being called by the serious illness of Mrs. Stewart's mother, Mrs. Middlebrooks, near Texas, Georgia. --- Miss Lillie Cofield, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. W.P. Cofield, was married at their home in LaGrange last Wednesday night to Mr. Grady Markett, a prosperous young farmer of Pyne, Ga. --- Mrs. Alex Dean left Saturday on her return to her home in Dallas, Texas. She was called here some weeks ago by the illness of her mother Mrs. Huckeba near Wedowee. --- DEATH OF MR. HEARD The death of Mr. Laz Heard occurred in Lowell last Sunday. His remains were carried Monday to his old home in Lamar beat for interment. Mr. Heard was a good and useful citizen. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, May 12, 1915 WRIGHT FAMILY REUNION A very happy family reunion was held last Sunday at the home of Mr. J.C. Wright in this city. At that time his mother Mrs. William H. Wright, aged 76 years, was present and all her children and grandchildren, the entire family including 21 members. These were: Mrs. W.H. Wright Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Wright Mrs. Ida Wright Johnston and daughter Miss Lucie Belle Miss Loraine Wright and Mr. Moses Wright of Tuskegee Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Askew and three children of West Point, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Weeks and two children of Hartford, Conn. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Wright and three children, this city. Mrs. Wright, the venerable mother, and Mr. Weeks and family have remained over for a visit of some days. Such gatherings are rare in the very nature of the case, and The Leader tenders its felicitations upon the recent happy occasion. ---- LEVEL ROAD News May 10th Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ferguson of Mellow Valley are visiting the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Key. --- Tom Hunter of near Lineville and Miss Emma Harmon of this place were united in marriage yesterday, Rev. C.W. Carter officiating. They left this morning for their future home in Clay County. --- LOCAL News Some weeks ago, former Tax Assessor M.P. Pittman began to suffer greatly from an old army wound in his foot and for awhile it was feared that he might lose the foot. His many friends will be pleased to learn that his wound is again healing and he can now get about on crutches. --- Cecil Weaver arrived last week from Texas. --- T.W. and W.K. Owens of this place and Mitchell Owens of Wedowee were called to Winston county last week by the death of their father Mr. A.H. Owens. --- Mrs. Sallie Pate left Monday for Texas and Oklahoma where she will spend a year with her sons. --- Mrs. Ben Chase is seriously ill. --- Miss Bennie Coker of Graham is visiting her brother Abner Coker and wife. --- BACON LEVEL News May 10th Mrs. Grady Borders of LaGrange spent last Sunday with her grandmother Mrs. Mary Jane Ussery. --- CORBIN News May 10th D.C. Delamar and family went to a birthday dinner at Mr. Robert Delamar's yesterday and report a good day. --- WEHADKEE News May 10th A new boy arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Hester last Thursday. --- "Aunt" Betsy Jones who is about 90 years old is suffering froma cancer on her face. --- RESOLUTIONS ON THE DEATH OF L.S. Hudson, Administrator of the estate of M.V. Hudson, deceased, has filed his petition in writing under oath in said court for an order to sell certain lands belonging to the said estate described in said petition, for making equitable division, upon the ground that the same cannot be equitably divided among the heirs and devisees of said estate, and C.L. Hudson, an heir, desires division and the 14th day of June 1915 has been appointed for the hearing of said petition. Heflin, Judge of Probate ---- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, May 19, 1915 ROCK MILLS News May 17th Mrs. Dora Sands has come to spend several weeks with her parents, Mr.and Mrs. H.N. Owens. --- The infant of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brown was buried at Wehadkee on Friday. --- LOCAL News Dan Awbrey of Atlanta was in town Monday, having been called here by the death of his grandfather Mr. Mat Awbrey. --- Robt. T. Yarbrough is now located in Roanoke as a U.S. Deputy collector. We trust he will do business with those who persist in practicing "moonshining." --- A.M. Clemmons left this morning with tent and camping utinsils, accompanied by a servant, to go to camp on the Chattahoochee river near Crowder's mill. Mr. Clemmons has been in feeble health for some time and his host of friends hope this change in life to start him on the upgrade. He has closed out his business. --- Mr. and Mrs. Pace of Hurtsboro are visiting the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Hester. --- Miss Annie B. Ozley of Standing Rock is visiting her sister Mrs. B.B. Cofield. --- Mr. John Kirk died Sunday at the home of his daughter Mrs. J.L. B. Green at Omaha. The remains were interred at Texas, Georgia on Monday. --- James C. Duke received a telegram Saturday announcing the death of his father Mr. J.M. Duke, aged 76 years, the death occurring at Little Rock, Arkansas. --- N. George and family will leave tomorrow to make their home in Birmingham. --- Ware Awbrey of LaGrange was over Sunday to attend the funeral of his grandfather. --- Mr. and Mrs. Seroyer were called to Camp Hill on Sunday by the death of Mr. Walt Dawson, an old and prominent citizen. --- CARD OF THANKS We wish to convey to all our friends and neighbors this sincere expression of our appreciation for the many favors they showed us during the long illness and upon the occasion of the death of our father, Mr. J.O. Camp Esq., officiated. --- STANDING ROCK News May 16th Mrs. Arvella Reid came over from LaGrange to spend the weekend with J.H. Pullen and family. --- Mr. and Mrs. N.E. Baker of LaFayette are visiting their sons Henry and Ed Baker. --- LOWELL News Willard Horton and Miss Cavender went to Texas, Georgia on Sunday and were married. --- Mrs. M.A. Dudley returned Sunday from West Point, accompanied by her daughter Mrs. George A. Bradley. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, May 26, 1915 MR. HOOTON GOES WEST R.J. Hooton will leave next Monday on a delightful tour of the West. He will go the lower route, stopping at various points and will visit a sister in Texas whom he has not seen in 25 years. He will visit the exposition both at San Diego and San Francisco in California and various points of interest in the Rocky Mountains region, returning by Chicago. Mr. Hooton will be away 30 to 40 days. --- WEDOWEE News May 24th Mr. Arthur Robertson and family, and his aunt, Mrs. Goodheart of Atlanta who is visiting him, went over to Big Springs on Saturday. --- BACON LEVEL News May 17th Andrew, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ragland, was buried here Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.S. Brannan. --- Miss Bessie Albright of this place and Clifford Sharp of Milltown were united in marriage Sunday. --- STANDING ROCK News May 24th A very quiet wedding occurred here Wednesday about sunset when Clifford Trammell of Five Points and Miss Ida Faust of Roanoke drove over and were married at the Methodist church by the latter's uncle, Rev. E.M. Barnes. --- LOCAL News Miss Annie Peavy went to LaFayette Monday to visit her sister Mrs. E.B. Welch. --- Miss Evelyn Smith of Riverview is visiting her aunt, Mrs. John Riley, in Lowell community. --- Mr. H. Brand, a Confederate Veteran, died the 19th inst. at his home four miles east of Roanoke. --- The remains of Mrs. O'Neal, a venerable lady who lived near Texas, Georgia, were interred at Union on Sunday. The deceased was the mother of Wade O'Neal and of Mrs. W.J. Layton. She was a highly esteemed christian lady. --- CARD OF THANKS To all our neighbors and the many friends who came with so many tokens of love and expressions of sympathy through the short illness and death of our dear husband and father, and also to Dr. Hooper we desire to thank sincerely.
