MARION SHEPHERD Our hearts were made so sad to learn of the death of so young a Brother. Still more so because of such bright prospects of an earnest christian soldier. Bro. Marion Shepherd was born August 24, 1895 and died march 26, 1915. We rejoice that his innocent and spotless life bequeaths to us the blessed consolation of the christian hope that assures us that his spirit will forever shine with the angels. His gentle and kind disposition, constancy in friendship, many virtues combined, made him a treasure on earth. Anxious to finish his education, yet more so about his mother's business, he realized that the word of God was a lamp to his feet and a light to his pathway. He believed it a duty to seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all things shall be added unto you. To know him was to love him. He was a brilliant example of the christian whose influence will never die. The church at Glenn offers the following resolutions: First, that our church has lost a loyal, consistent member; Second, that we extend to his loved ones our deepest sympathy in their sorrow; Third, that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon our minutes and one be sent to the Christian Index and one to the Roanoke Leader for publication Mrs. S.T.
