Ray and family have gone to Columbus to make their home, to the regret of many of their friends here. --- David Tittle left Monday morning for his home in Beaumont, Texas after spending some time in this section. --- Lamar, DeWitt and Gray Mulendore went back to their old home at Munford on Sunday to spend ten days or more with their grandparents. --- For Sale or Rent - - 55 acres of the Asbury Turner place, 3 miles and a half east of Roanoke. Good land and comfortable house. Apply to Mrs. Minnie Crenshaw, Wehadkee, Ala. --- W.A. Storey was called to Tuskegee on Monday by the illness of a grandchild, who died and was buried yesterday. --- Mr. and Mrs. Z.J. Wright came yesterday to spend some time with their daughter Mrs. Danielly and will be cordially greeted by many Roanoke friends. Mr. Wright's health is still feeble but he is able to be up and walk around. --- N.B. Sudduth is home from Atlanta. He reports his brother DeWitt as recovering from the fever. --- H.A. Butler of Jackson, Ga., is spending a few days in the city this week. --- NEWSPAPER issue of Wednesday, September 8, 1915 WEDOWEE News Sept. 7th Claud Word and Miss Eula Edwards were married Sunday. --- LOCAL News Mrs. W.B. Pittman of Newkirk, Oklahoma arrived yesterday to visit relatives in this vicinity. --- Mrs. Ora Trent and children returned last week from a lengthy stay with kinspeople in Virginia. --- The many friends of Col. Chas. S. Moon will be sorry to hear that he had a severe attack of appendicitis and was operated on last Thursday by Drs. Gaines and Wheeler. His friends will be glad to know that he is doing well and on the way to recovery. The LaFayette Sun --- Miss Susie Glenn went to Union Springs on Friday where she will teach music in the public schools. --- Clinton Randle underwent an operation Saturday for the removal of a portion of bone from the stub of the arm which he lost when a child. --- Dillard Wood, the 3 year old son of J.D. Wood, died Monday morning at the home of Mr. J.Wm. Wood, of diptheria. The remains were interred at Paran on Monday afternoon. The many friends of the afflicted father throughout the county will deeply sympathize with him in the loss of the child, following the previous loss of the wife and mother. --- Mr. Tom Campbell and Miss Cordia Parker were joined in wedlock early Monday morning last by Ordinary T.M. Awbrey. The young couple hail from beyond Wedowee, ALa., and with another couple had driven all night to reach Judge's Awbrey's "factory" of matrimonial bliss. The Franklin News and Banner --- Louis, the 11 months old child of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Bradley, died Friday night after a long illness. --- Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Clark were in Roanoke Monday enroute to their home on Route 4, after a visit to their daughters, Mrs. W.R. Avery and Mrs. L.J. Hamilton at Lanett. --- Claud M. Glenn who has been at work in The Leader office the past summer to learn the printing business, went to LaFayette Monday morning to accept a place on the LaFayette Sun. He is a fine young fellow and The Leader wishes him every success. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, September 15, 1915 WEHADKEE News Sept. 13th John W. Davis and Miss Martha Jane Moman were marreid Friday night. C.H. Green, Esq., officiated. --- Luba Prestridge went to Atlanta last week where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. --- LOCAL News Rev. G.H. Bailey and Mrs. H.E. Carter were united in marriage at the home of the bride in Randolph county, Wednesday evening Sept 1, 1915. Rev. J.H. Hughes officiated. The Lineville Headlight --- The family of Mr. R.T. West of Berwick are now residents of Lineville, having moved in the latter part of last week. They come to avail themselves of the educational advantages Lineville offers. Mr. West will continue to reside at Berwick where he will look after his mill. The Lineville Headlight --- Mr. A.L. Crowder died from an attack of gastritis at his home at Unity, Tuesday night at 7 o'clock. The funeral was held at the residence Wednesday evening at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.P. Cofield after which the interment occurred at Hillview Cemetery. Mr. Crowder was in the 54th year of his age and leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Newman and family left yesterday for Birmingham where they will make their home. --- STANDING ROCK News Sept. 13th Little Durham Dennis is quite ill with the fever. --- BACON LEVEL News Miss Lois Echols spent a few days with her sister Mrs. Sheppard at Lime last week. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, September 22, 1915 WADLEY News Sept. 20th Mr. Jefferson J. Bishop, an excellent citizen of Wadley Rt. 3, was buried at Darien church Sept. 17th. Funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. S.M. Shaddix, assisted by Revs. G.D. Hunt and J.A. Dunn. --- LOCAL News Mrs. Annie Ray Trammell of Atlanta, accompanied by her son Raymond, is spending a while with her niece Mrs. Walter Lipford, who is ill. The Franklin News and Banner --- Mrs. John A. Hornsby of Sour Lake, Texas is visiting her mother Mrs. R.T. West and from here she will go to Berwick and Roanoke to visit friends and relatives. The Lineville Headlight --- Jos. Swint is quite ill. --- Dr. Sanford Carter has gone to Fort Payne, Ala., where he will practice veterinary surgery. --- Mrs. Chas. E. Jones and children of Franklin, VA are the guests of Mrs. J.E. McCosh. --- Miss Spratlin had the misfortune to fall off the door steps Friday, severely injuring her head. --- Fount Randle Lane returned last week to Oxford, Ga., to resume his college duties. --- STANDING ROCK News Sept. 20th Miss Sara Lee James is ill. --- Miss Caroline Cumbee of West Point is teaching a music school here. --- A marriage which was of considerable surprise to their friends was that of Mr. Robert Young to Miss Cassie Gunn on Sunday. -- The angel of death visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilkie Smith Saturday night and carried away the spirit of their eldest child, Inez. She was some twenty years of age and had been afflicted most all of her life. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, September 29, 1915 WEHADKEE News Sept. 27th Perry, the nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Brown is dead after a long illness of typhoid fever. The interment was at Big Spring Monday afternoon. Religious services were conducted by Bro. A.J. Green. --- LOWELL News Mr. Larkin Key and Miss Lovie Turner went over to LaGrange on Sunday and were married. --- Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Chatham were called to Shawmut on Sunday by the illness of their daughter Mrs. Will Wallis. --- On Sunday, Hugh, the nine year old son of Dr. J.T. McKay, fell from a tree and fractured his skull, rendering an operation necessary. The lad's condition is now considered favorable. --- ROCK MILLS News Sept. 27th Mr. and Mrs. Emory Mapp have moved back from Prattville. -- "Grannie" Mapp had the misfortune of falling off the porch, severely injuring her shoulder. --- Saturday afternoon while driving a cow, Dave Owens fell and broke two of his ribs. --- STANDING ROCK News Sept. 27th Jackey Farrar was taken ill with appendicitis Friday afternoon and an operation was performed Saturday morning. His case is reported as hopeful. --- Mrs. Julius Strickland who was carried to LaFayette last week to undergo an operation is improving. --- NON-RESIDENT NOTICE State of Alabama, Randolph County Probate Court Petition to Sell Lands for Division; In the matter of the estate of James H. Hand, deceased, has filed her petition in writing under oath in said court, for an order to sell certain lands belonging to the heirs and joint owners of said estate, described in said petition, for making an equitable division, upon the grounds that the same cannot be equitably divided among the heirs and joint owners of said estate, and Annie Fife, an heir and joint owner, desires division, and the 11th day of October 1915 has ben appointed for the hearing of said petition. Mathews received a telephone message yesterday from Lineville to the effect that his mother was in a dying condition. Mr. Mathews left on the noon train for her bedside. --- Mr. T.S. Tatum is spending several days with his son S.H. Tatum. --- NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO SELL LAND State of Alabama, Randolph County Probate Court Sept. 27, 1915 In the matter of the estate of Susan S. East, deceased. This day came J.W. Jackson as Administrator of the estate of Susan S. East, deceased, which estate has been declared insolvent and filed in the probate court of Randolph County, Ala., his application in due form and under oath, praying an order and decree for the sale of certain land described therein and belonging to said estate, for the purpose of paying debts of said estate. It is ordered that the 2nd day of November 1915 be and is appointed a day for the hearing of said application at which time all parties of interest can appear and contest the same, if they think proper. Dunkin arrived Monday from Shreveport, La., as welcome guests in the home of Mr. D.S. Dunkin. --- Charlie Stewart, a well known and humble old negro servant, who worked many years for Mr. Schuessler, died Sunday. --- Mrs. Brady Talley and two children of LaFayette were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Abernathy last week. --- The Messrs. Stevenson brothers are anticipating with pleasure the arrival tomorrow for a visit of some days with their kin people, Mr. Wilbur Stevenson and Mr. and Mrs. John H.
