We can't express our feelings in words but we hope that when the trial comes to them that they will have friends as kind as they were to us. We also want to thank our doctor for he did all he could. Revs. Green and Dollar will conduct the funeral services. ---- GUARDIAN'S SETTLEMENT NOTICE State of Alabama, Randolph County Probate Court This day came W.L. Dunn, guardian of Bryant Crowder and Willie Crowder (now Mrs. Willie Williamson) and filed his accounts, vouchers, evidence and statement for final settlement of his guardianship. It is ordered that the 2nd day of July 1920 be appointed a day on which to make such settlement at which time all persons interested can appear and contest the said settlement if they think proper. Cavender received the unexpected news of the death of his brother, M.C. Cavender which occurred in LaFayette last night. The interment will be in Heard County tomorrow. ---- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, June 9, 1920 LOCAL News On Sunday, occurred the union of Mr. J.T. Carroll Jr. and Miss Mamie Money. --- A marriage of considerable interest to their many friends was that of Miss Nelle McCarley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. McCarley of this place and Mr. Thomas Watson Hill. They were married early Sunday morning at the home of Rev. O.C. Fincher, Mr. Fincher officiating. They left for Atlanta to be gone several days. The bride was employed as a stenographer in the office of Knight-McIntosh Mfg. Co. The groom, a popular employee of Driver's Drug Store and former service man, is the son of Mr. G.O. Hill, a veteran of the Confederate war. Congratulations are extended to this popular young couple. ----- Mrs. Adkins has returned to her home in Stamford, Texas after visiting relatives for several weeks. --- Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Stevens have received news of the marriage some days ago in Atlanta of their daughter Miss Eris Stevens to Mr. J.W. Archer, formerly of Franklin. The couple proceeded to their future home in Oklahoma City. ---- SEVERAL DEATHS HAVE OCCURRED LATELY Mrs. John Key died at her home at Welsh on Saturday. The interment was made Sunday. -- James D. Moon, son of Mr. W.H. Moon, died Friday night near Milltown and was buried Saturday at New Hope. --- The sudden death of Mr. Doc Evans occurred Friday, this county. ---- LOCAL News Mrs. W.S. Bonner of New Orleans is visiting her sister Mrs. Pruett. Another sister, Mrs. Pauline Walsh of Birmingham spent Saturday and Sunday here. --- Mrs. Flora Wright of Lanett is spending this week with her sister Mrs. A.C. McCarley. --- George Green was in town Saturday. He now has a position in the office of the Langdale cotton mill and was up visiting his father W.T. Green at Abanda, who had the misfortune to have his leg broken some days ago. --- Elmore Higgins left Monday morning to make his home in Amarillo, Texas. --- Kemp Ingram has returned from Milledgeville, Ga., where he has been attending the Georgia Military Academy. --- Mrs. S.L. Whitehead of Birmingham with her two children is visiting her sister Mrs. D.T. Ware. --- Mrs. Sam Keeble died Monday night at her home some miles from town and was buried Tuesday at Mt. Zion. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, June 16, 1920 DEATH OF MR. LILES OCCURRED LAST FRIDAY About midnight last Friday night occurred the sudden death of Mr. David Liles at his home in Abanda. He had been complaining some, but was able to work all day Friday, hence his demise was all the more a shock to his family and friends. The remains were interred at New Hope church after services Sunday morning. Mr. Liles was 67 years of age and had lived all his life near the scene of his last days except four years in New Mexico. He leaves a wife and six grown children. He had many friends among those who knew him. He was a brother of Dr. J.P. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John Dollar. --- NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, June 23, 1920 LOCAL News Mrs. John Talley, mother of Rev. NEWSPAPER Issue of Wednesday, June 30, 1920 LOCAL News Ida Hilliams, one of the older negro residents of Roanoke and respected by all, died Monday night. A number of the white friends in whose home she had worked attended her funeral as sincere mourners and did what they could to show their appreciation of her faithful life. ---- Mrs. E.W. Ross of Barnesville, Ga., is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Stevens. --- Mrs. A.H. McIntosh of Camp Hill is the guest of her son W.E. McIntosh and family. --- J.W. Cash was called Friday morning to Knoxville, Tennessee by the news that his sister, sixteen years of age, had been killed in an automobile wreck. --- G.H. Anderson of Paducah, Texas was in town Tuesday.
