She was married to Clinton Wheeler on Dec. 18, 1901. She joined the Methodist church at Five Points early in life and lived a consistent member of the church the rest of her life. For many years, Sister Wheeler had not been in good health and for this reason had not been able to attend church much, but she remained loyal to her church and true to her God till death. She was a true helpmeet, and a loving companion, a gentle and loving mother. As a neighbor she was thoughtful and untiring in her services, especially to the sick and sorrowing, always carrying sunshine and gladness wherever she went. One of the brightest and most cheerful christian of the Five Points Methodist church has gone from among us and her cheerful and happy face will be missed in the home and the community, but we know where to find her. She has gone to our Father's house in Heaven and there she will be waiting to welcome all the loved ones home. May the grace of God that sustained her through life comfort and sustain the loved ones left behind and guide them to that eternal home above. E.B. Redus ----- GUY SUDDUTH WRITES ABOUT EXPERIENCE IN THE WEST Mr. Editor, If you will allow me a little space I will write a few lines about my trip in the far West. I left Roanoke May 26th, traveled through parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. I arrived in Prescott, Arizona on June 30th. I soon found employment with the Granite Dells Outing Association in a small canyon. The Dells holds one of the greatest scenic spots in Arizona. There are mountains of brown granite rocks of all sizes and shapes, clinging together. Some are over a hundred feet high with scrubby brushes growing on them. I got to see a movie outfit film "When A Man's a Man" at the Granite Dells. They have a lake for swimming and also a picnic and camping ground. They raise fine fruit and vegetables for market. The season being about over I quit work on Sept. 25th. Mr. Payne of of the managers and myself made a tour in car by Grand Canyon to California. We were about a week in crossing the Mohave desert which is the largest in the U.S. I was awakened my first time in camp by Coyotes in the desert. We traveled through Orange and English Walnut belts and stopped at some of the largest beaches on the Pacific coast from Los Angeles to San Diego. I visited my cousins Mr. and Mrs. Merle Huggins in Los Angeles. I worked about a month in California, left Los Angeles Nov. 25th, came via Southern Pacific and arrived in Roanoke on Nov. 29th.
