Leonard Wilcox was jailed on “suspicion of manslaughter’’ by Homicide square J. A. Preston and H.C. Newton. The detectives said the altercation occurred Saturday night father and son in Atlanta. Newton O. Wilcox Sr 66 a retired cotton mill worker was buried yesterday at Providence cemetery Randolph County Ala. The coroner’s jury in ordering the son held ruled that testimony brought out in the inquest is that the father and son had a fight causing the father to fall dying apparently a blow to the head. An autopsy by the Fulton County physician determined death resulted from a hemorrhage Newton Wilcox spent his boyhood days in Randolph County Ala. Additional Comments: The Atlanta Constitution Jun 27, 1949: Funeral services for Newton Ollie Wilcox, 66, retired cotton worker who died Saturday night at his home, 312 Harden St., S. E. will be held at 10 a. m. tomorrow at the chapel of J. Austin Dillon. The Rev. G. L. Merck will officiate. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery, Randolph County, Ala. Born in Randolph County, Mr. Wilcox lived in Atlanta 15 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and the Woodmen of the Surviving are his widow; sons. Leonard, Newton Ohio, Jr., and Leon Wilcox, of Atlanta, and a brother, Arthur Wilcox, of Montgomery, Ala.
