Hand, is doing fairly well the doctors say and may recover. __ Mr. James R. Little of Atlanta, a well known traveling salesman, will lead to the alter today at high noon, Miss Roberta Perryman of Rockdale, one of the most beautiful and accomplished of Randolph's fair daughters. Many of the friends of this popular couple have received invitations and will be present on the happy occasion. __ GRAHAM News Mr. Robert Landers of the Brinallee mountain, visited his brother-in-law, Gabe Daniel of this place on the 2nd inst. __ NEIGHBORING News A hay loft fell on a Mr. McLeroy near Oxford on last Friday and killed him. __ NEWSPAPER Notice of Thursday, November 14, 1895 NOTICE FOR PUBLICATION Land Office at Montgomery, Ala November 6, 1895 Notice is hereby given that the following named settler has filed notice of her intention to make final proof in support of her claim and that said proof will be made before the Clerk of the Circuit Court at Wedowee, Ala, December 20th, 1895, viz: Eliza R. Morgan, homestead entry No. 23,553 for the S 1/2 of NW 1/4, NE 1/4 of NW 1/4, section 30, township 19S R 13 East. She names the following witnesses to prove her continuous residence upon and cultivation of said land, viz: Joshua J. Smith, Mance Hester, John S. Coker, Nathan L. Langley, all of Napoleon, Ala. __ LOCAL News Mr. J.T. Burrow of Burrow's Ferry and Miss Cram of Lineville were married Thursday night of last week. Rev. W.A. Dean, the Toiler's genial neighbor, excited the wonder of his friends yesterday by reporting the astonishing fact that Mr. Burrow had caught a beautiful Crain which he had made a pet of and which could talk and sing, etc. Mr. Dean kept such a straight face that he elicited many inquiries about the lovely pet that Mr. Burrow caught. __ Mr. George C. McNamara fulfilled last night a promise he made some time since to Mrs. Huckeba to give a "Peter Pender" party at the Wedowee Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Huckeba extended a general invitation to their friends and the parlors were crowded. Mr. McNamara gave his new version of "Jack the Giant Killer". He is a delightful story teller and the company, especially the children, were highly amused and pleasantly entertained. __ Mr. J.H. Stephens who lives on the Wilson place five miles from town, reports a wonderful stalk of tobacco grown in his crop of the "weed" this year. The stalk is 10 feet high, having one limb six feet long. Some of the leaves are three to 4 inches long and 2 feet four inches wide. Mr. Stephens ought to have sent his stalk of tobacco to the Atlanta Exposition for it is certainly a world beater. Think of cigars three feet long made from solid leaves of fragrant tobacco. ___ Mr. Harmon Hicks of Wedowee and Miss Mary Banks of Gay, Ala., nine below Wedowee, will be married the 24th of November and they will be accompanied with four lovely waiters, Miss Ada Hicks and L.J. Johnson and Miss Fanny Heard and Mr. Henry H.Andrews. They will take supper with his brother Rev. M.L. Hicks and many of his friends will be present on the happy occasion. ___ HAYWOOD News Wedding bells have begun to ring. Mr. Jim Evans and Miss Maggie Miles were happily united in the holy bonds of matrimony. __ GRAHAM News Mr. H.M. Daniel and wife and little son Alick of Villa Rica, GA have been enjoying a visit to our town for the past few days but have not returned home. __ CLACK News Mr. Dave Lipham is fixing to build him a residence near Clack post office. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Thursday, November 21, 1895 HAYWOOD News Mr. W.A. J. Bailey has entered our little village again for the third time. He is going to run a shingle mill. __ Mr. M.M. Laney and Miss P.M. Rollins were happily united in the sacred bonds of matrimony last Thursday night, with Rev. T.A. Camp officiating. ___ Mr. E.G.Hill and Miss Lucy Shelnutt were also married on Sunday night last, with Rev. Lum Grant officating. __ CLACK News Mr. Green Knight, an old citizen, fell from his door last Friday and broke his righ tarm. Young, Homestead Entry No. 24,693 for the NW 1/4 of SE 1/4 of section 29, township 20, south of range 13 east. She names the following witnesses to prove her continuous residence and cultivation of said land, viz: S.D. Lewis of Wehadkee, Ala; A.J. Hester of High Shoals, Ala., J.Z. Fincher of High Shoals, Ala., J.M. Fincher of Wehadkee, Ala. _____ LOCAL News Mr. Anderson Clemons of Fredonia, Chambers County, was found in a dying condition on Thursday near one of the farms he owns on Corn House Creek in this county. He passed through Roanoke on Monday in a road cart on his way to see about his property as stated, and it is supposed that his horse ran away, from bruises found on his head and body, and from the position in which it was found. The accident is suposed to have occurred Mondayu night and was not found till the afternoon on Tuesday when he was speechless. He died late Tuesday evening.
