TRIBUTE OF RESPECT TO ENOCH BARTON The pendulum of unfolding destiny has completed another revolution and the inexorable decree of fate has terminated the early career of Brother Enoch Barton. On the morning of Jan. 2nd, as the sun rose in his splendor and shed a hale of glory over mother earth, God's finger touched him and he fell asleep. The mysterious chronometer which the angel of life wound up 78 years ago ceased oscillation and the spirit rendered to God who gave it. Resolved, 1st; that in the death of Brother Barton this Lodge has sustained an irreparable loss; the community a kind hearted and generous citizen; the church an earnest humble member; the wife and children a loving husband and affectionate father. Resolved, 2nd; that while he sorely lament the death of Bro. Barton, we humbly submit to the will of him who doeth all things well. Truth, Love and Charity, the realm of virtues, were the notable characteristics that dinstinguished his life, and may we as a brotherhood, store away in memory's hall these heavenly virtues that point to Canaan's shore. As we deposited the emblematic evergreen in his grave and bid him farewell we did so in the full confidence that he has gone, Into the light of the blest, Into the estacy of rest; Into a day without gloom, Into a land without a tomb. Resolved, 3rd; that as a further mark of esteem that the members of this Lodge wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days; that a copy of this memorial be published in the county papers; that a copy be presented to the wife and a copy of the same be spread upon the minutes of the Lodge.
