Everybody is invited. Bring a basket and plenty of dinner. __ Mr. Henry Holloway left for the Lone Star State. He said old Randolph didn't suit a Texas man. __ Gold mining is the order of the day. Mr. Clark and Mr. W.C. Laney have found a rich mine. __ WEHADKEE News Miss Lucy Pearce of Walnut Hill, GA is visiting relatives in this community. __ Mrs. Mulloy is spending several days with her son, Mr. N.H. Mulloy near this place. __ Mr. Charley Noles had the misfortune to lose his house by fire last Sunday. Mr. Noles and his wife left home Sunday morning visiting. The house was discovered on fire about 1 o'clock. The origin of the fire is unknown. Nothing was saved. We sympathize with them. __ Mrs. W.H. Veal died at her home at High Shoals yesterday after a long illness. We extend sympathy to all the bereaved ones. __ PLEASANT Hill News Health is not good in this settlement at present. There are some families here that have Typhoid Fever. A little son of Mr. Hiram Stephens died last Sunday of typhoid fever. He was a boy about five years of age, a smart and good child. ___ There was a log rolling and quilting at Mr. John McGill's last Thursday and a fandango at night. __ Mr. Will Clegg says he believes that he can get him a wife at the ferry. __ POTASH, Ala., News The measles are still raging in this section. Farmers are getting straightened out at their work, some rolling logs, some digging wells, some hauling guano. __ We are having a good school at Potash. Mr. T.R. Burgess is talking of teaching some longer than he had planned for the Spring Term. __ NEWSPAPER issue of Friday, March 13, 1896 LOCAL News Married at the residence of the bride's father at Lecta, Cleburne County, Alabama, Sunday March 8th, John H. Bartlett of Temple, GA and Miss Clarkie F. McLendon, with Rev. Hall of Wedowee officiating. __ Sheriff Willoughby went to Tuscaloosa Monday to convey an old gentlemen named Ely of Rock Springs to the Insane Asylum, his mind having given away on account of a paralytic stroke. __ CHRISTIANA, Ala., News Christiana is located in the northwestern part of the county, one fourth of a mile from the county line; three miles west of the river; surrounded by fine fertile land and quite a number of the best farmers in the state. Health of our town is good at this writing. __ Mr. W.J. Cofield & Son have the largest stock of dry goods, groceries, etc. that has ever been in our town. __ Mr. H.W. Cofield and Miss A. Foster were happily united in the holy bonds of matrimony last Sunday evening at three o'clock, Rev. T.M. Linley officiating. __ Mr. J.T. Cofield's house burned a few days ago but the good people have joined him in preparing a new dwelling. __ NEWSPAPER Issue of Friday, March 20, 1896 LOCAL News Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Clifton returned Saturday from Bowdon, GA where Mr. Clifton has been under medical treatment and trying a change of location for some time past for the benefit of his health. He is reported much improved. __ WEHADKEE News Mrs. Fannie Pate of Roanoke spent several days here last week visiting relatives. __ Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Pittman and children visited the latter's parents at Taylor's Cross Roads on Sunday. __ Mr. J.E. Stitt has located a saw mill in our community and is now cutting lumber for Mr. J.C. Seegar. __ Mr. A.J.Hester is going to raise oats this year having sowed sixty five bushels. __ PEACE News Mrs. M.E. Almond is reported very low. May she soon recover. __ Mrs. Mollie Barton of Haywood is visiting her daughter Mrs. Ela Bailey of this place. __ CLACK News Grandma Lipham has been very ill for some time. The greatest trouble with her is old age. __ P.H. Dennis is having a bill of lumber sawed out. He says he is going to build next summer. __ NEWSPAPER issue of Friday, March 27, 1896 PLEASANT Hill News Old Grandmother Barrett died the 13th of this month. She was a good mother and good grandmother. She has been a faithful servant of the lord and she has gone to that better land.
