If you miss this conference you will be the loser. We expect the Lodges to send a good representation and “them dues.” Bros. PEARSON and JONES will be with us and you will have an excellent opportunity to study the work. Roanoke Lodge has built and furnished a large hall and are looking for us with warm hearts, and their glad hands will give us the fraternal grip at exactly ten. Fraternally, Nixon LUCAS, Sec. and Treas. Malone, January 4. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 6 January 1915, p.1] ---------------------------- CONFERENCE OF MASONS MEETS ---------------------------- At 10 o’clock Tuesday morning [12 January 1915] the Randolph and Clay Masonic Conference met in its ninth semi-annual session in the handsome new Masonic Temple in Roanoke. The officers of the Conference are as follows: E. M. MOORE, W. M. [Worshipful Master]; J. T. FULLER, S. W. [Senior Warden?]; A. J. PIKE, J. D. [Junior Deacon]; Nixon LUCAS, secretary-treasurer; J. P. RADNEY, S. D. [Senior Deacon]; A. R. CLINE, J. D. [Junior Deacon]; W. J. LAYTON, Chaplain; J. H. BAILEY, Jr., S. S. [Senior Steward]; B. D. JOHNSON, J. S. [Junior Steward]; L. E. HARRIS, Tyler; W. C. S. ROBERTSON, A. C. BRANNEN, W. C. LANE, executive committee. Owing to the unfavorable weather, the attendance was not so large the first day as it would have been. There were about 30 present Tuesday, but it is expected that the number will be considerably increased today and tomorrow. The brethren are fortunate in having with them to conduct the work of the Conference such able gentlemen and fluent speakers as Prof J. M. PEARSON, of Alexander City [Tallapoosa County], and Rev. T. O. JONES, of Birmingham. The former is chairman of the committee on work of the Grand Lodge of Alabama and the latter is a member of the committee on dispensations of the Grand Lodge. The visiting Masons are being cordially entertained in the homes of the citizens of Roanoke. The Leader trusts this session of the Conference may be the most pleasant in its history.
