NICHOLS, Deputy Grand Chancellor of the Grand Lodge of Alabama, organized a lodge of the Knights of Pythias at this place last Tuesday [5 Apr 1898] night. A large number of members of the Order were here from Roanoke, LaFayette [Chambers co., AL] and Lineville [Clay co., AL]. Sixteen members were initiated, all of whom are among the best citizens of Wedowee and vicinity. The following officers were duly elected and installed: Jno. W. OVERTON, C. C. [Master of Finance] C. M. PRESCOTT, M. W. [Master of the Work] A. J. KENT, M. A. [Master at Arms] H. A. NAPIER, I. G. [Inner Guard] Lon KENT, O. G. [Outer Guard] A. J. WEATHERS, L. J. HUCKEBA and R. H. HARRIS, Trustees, Jno. W. OVERTON and C. A. PRESCOTT, Past C. C. Jno. W. OVERTON, Representative to the Grand Lodge of Alabama. ---------------------------- The Pythian brethren took the Farmers’ Hotel by storm Tuesday night, but they fared very sumptuously after all. Mrs. [J. W.] STEWART and Miss Jimmie [STEWART] received many compliments for the satisfactory manner in which they met the emergency.
