The meeting was presided over by Dr. J. W. HOOPER, and Dr. J. J. SLAPPEY was elected secretary. The regular order prescribed for other camps was followed in perfecting the organization. The name given the local chapter was the "B. F. WEATHERS Camp," in honor of the commander of the Roanoke camp of Confederate veterans, who has taken a great interest in the organization of the Sons, and who made a gallant record as a soldier in the Sixties. The first Wednesday in April, 7:30, p.m., was set as the annual time for the meeting. Membership fee was fixed at one dollar per year. The following were the officers elected: J. W. HOOPER, Commandant; G. H. HANDLEY, First Lieutenant; J. T. SHANKS, Second Lieutenant; J. J. SLAPPEY, Adjutant and Treasurer; C. E. FORD, Surgeon; J. D. MYHAND, Quartermaster; I. F. HAWKINS, Chaplain; O. L. MULLENDORE, Color Sergeant; B. F. SIMMS, Historian. A membership committee, consisting of J. J. SLAPPEY, O. H. STEVENSON and O. L. MULLENDORE, was appointed. All who enroll within thirty days will be received as charter members. Gen. WEATHERS was elected honorary member and delegate. The regular delegates to the re-union to be held in Atlanta October 7-10 will be appointed by the Commandant. Reduced fares can be secured by members and their families.
