A resolution was offered and unanimously voted that Wadley High School shall be a nine months free school. Donations were called for and about $900.00 were freely subscribed by the liberal citizens to supplement the state and county public school fund to make it a free school. The trustees met Tuesday and elected the following excellent faculty: Principal, R. H. HARRIS, of Wedowee; assistants, Miss Vera THOMPSON, Wadley; Miss Eva EDWARDS, Lineville [Clay Co., AL], Miss Iola ROBERTS, Wadley. The matriculation fee will be $1.00 per scholar for incidental expenses. Wadley High School is wide open and free to any and all students who are admitted to the public schools of Alabama. Come one and come all. We want you. [From The Roanoke Leader (Randolph County, Alabama), 31 May 1916, p.1]
