Among the crowd assembled from a distance, were two wayward sons from Randolph County named Bonds and Thrash. They came over the mountains in a two-mule wagon and stopped over somewhere behind the cemetery. It didn't take long for thirsty ones to catch on to the fact that the said Randolph County citizens had some "mighty good Apple Jack" that could be gotten by a knowing wink out of your off eye, at the same time tendering enough filthy lucre to pay for the cost and trouble of hauling. Sometime during the day, the officers noted that the red, red, rosy was being circulated around quite freely, while one or two movements by the Randolph County men excited their suspicious. Armed with the proper papers the officers began an investigation which developed the facts above and caused them to take the parties and their wildcat goods in tow. They were carried before Judge Jeffers, who bound them over to appear at the next term of his court which convenes on the 9th.
