The Birmingham News September 24, 1890
A Man Suspected of Murder in Fayette County Held. Information comes from Mobile 
to the effect that William McCallum, or at least a man answering to his 
description, has been arrested in that city on the strength of the telegram sent 
by the police here. However, the man arrested claims that he is from Randolph 
county, and knows nothing about the Fayette County murder. An officer has been 
sent down to investigate the matter. The officers now believe that the man who 
purchased a ticket to Brennon , Texas, Monday afternoon, and afterwards claimed 
to have been robbed of $70 while at the depot, was the same man wanted in Fayette 
county. Anyway, he filled the description very closely.
