Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 22, in Pine Hill Church of Christ, with Bro. Gerald Romine and Bro. Jim Jones officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Mrs. Cosper is survived by four sisters, Ms. Julia McCollough of Graham, Mrs. Dorothy Smith of Graham, Ms. Wahneta McCollough of Montgomery, and Mrs. Dean Jordan of Montgomery; two brothers, Lance McCollough of Newell and Joe McCollough of Montgomery; and several neices [sic] and nephews. Mrs. Cosper was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County. She was a member of Pine Hill Church of Christ and was retired from Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company in the utility department. She was the daughter of the late Jody McCollough and Lois McManus McCollough. Burial was at Napoleon Church of Christ cemetery. Mr. Hendley died Wednesday, Apr. 28, at Randolph County Hospital in Roanoke. A former resident of LaGrange, Ga., Mr. Hendley was born in Randolph County May 11, 1914, son of George and Lizzie Barker Hendley. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and had worked as a spinner with Handley Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Billy and Larry Hendley; and a daughter, Linda Hendley. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sara Harris Hendley of Roanoke; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Young, Mrs. Kutine Smith and Mrs. Deborah Jackson, all of Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. Lera Sheers of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Lowell Hendley of Newnan, Ga., and Leo Hendley of Roopville, Ga.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. James Janney, 62, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, May 3, 1993, at his residence after several months of declining health. Funeral services for the Rev. The Rev. Mr. Janney was born in Roanoke Nov. 24, 1930, son of Mrs. Audrey Janney and the late Robert T. Janney. He had lived in LaGrange since 1954 and was service manager of Countryside Mobile Homes in Jonesboro, Ga. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and served as pastor of The Bradley Center for 5 ˝ years, Mountville Baptist Church for 4 ˝ years, and, most recently, Florence Hand Home. Henry Milton “Bud” Shoffeitt, 83, of Bowdon, Ga., died Sunday, May 2, 1993, in Bowdon Area Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Camp Hill, Ala., May 31, 1909, the son of the late Montezuma and Jonnie Williams Shoffeitt. Mr. Shoffeitt was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Bowdon Baptist Church, a retired rural letter carrier, and a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Helen Traylor Shoffeitt of Bowdon; a daughter, Jane Wright of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Deborah Wright of Jonesboro, Ga., and Jeffrey Wright of Atlanta; and a sister, Mrs. Manzie Yates of Newell. Jack Kermit Leverett, 79, of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday, May 1, 1993, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Robert Brogden officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett. Mr. Leverett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Eunice E. Foster Leverett; and his son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Helen Leverett of LaGrange. Mr. Leverett was born in Milltown, Ala., on March 31, 1914. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was the former owner and operator of the Tara Restaurant and Harry’s All-American Inn in Roanoke. Ms. Zachery died Saturday, Apr. 17, at her home. She was born July 4, 1927, in Randolph County, Ala., daughter of the late Ebb and Fannie Mae Zachery. A native of Daviston, Mr. Croley had resided in Phenix City for the past 25 years, retiring from Williams Construction Company. He was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sara Jim Huckeba Croley, and son, James M. Croley, both of Phenix City and two nephews and one niece. Ralph, son of Ralph and Shirley Andersen Creed, was born June 10, 1980, at Lithia Springs, Ga. At age three, he moved with his family to San Juan, New Mexico, and in 1987 moved to Dannenbrog, where he participated in football and wrestling in his school and was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, a Boy Scout troop and the Baptist Church Adventure Club. Survivors include his mother, Shirley of Dannenbrog; his father Ralph of Wedowee, Ala.; a sister, Carrie Shipp of Atlanta, Ga.; and two brothers, Ronnie and Brandon, both at home in Dannenbrog. Mrs. Stevens was born in Wedowee, Ala., Jan. 25, 1909, and had lived in the Kern County, Calif., area for the past 40 years. She had been a home day care provider for over 22 years. Ms. Rachel died Tuesday, May 11. Ms. Rachel was born Dec. 7, 1955, to Willie Joe and Eleanor B. Houston. She worked at the Randolph County Hospital in Roanoke, the U.S. Amphibious Base in Little Creek, Va., and was a dispatcher for the Roanoke Police Department until her health failed. Ms. Rachel was a member of Rock Mills Baptist Church and Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Eleanor B. Houston of Roanoke; three children, Montwell Dewayne Rachel, Miss Natasha Nicole Rachel and Jeremy Tremaine Rachel, all of Roanoke; two sisters, Sara H. He served in the army during WWII and was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church. He had worked as a weaver with Handley Mills. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents, J. J. and Gena Watson and two sons, John Wayne Watson and Wesley Watson. Mr. East served as director of veterans affairs at Southern Union State Junior College in Wadley from 1975 to 1978. He served as registrar of the college from 1978 until his retirement in 1984.
