Fowler of Wedowee; two sister, Mrs. Verner Lewis and Mrs. Barbara Parks of Oxford; and three brothers, Johnny Bennis Fowler of Oxford, David Dennis Fowler of Roanoke, and Donald Fowler of Wedowee. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the VFW and DAV. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, a very active member of the Tuscaloosa Civitans and a volunteer for Temporary Emergency Services. (formerly of Roanoke); two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. __________ Eudoris Patterson (ROANOKE) Eudoris Patterson, 73, of Roanoke died Wednesday, May 25, 1994, at Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Tuskegee. Mr. Patterson was born in Chambers County on September 25, 1920, son of the late Herbert and Lena Patterson. He was a long-time member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Thennia Collins Patterson; three sons, Napoleon Patterson of Valley, Eudoris Patterson Jr. of Roanoke, and Jerome Patterson of Columbus, Ga.; three daughters, Mrs. Gloria Murphy of Columbus, Ga., Mrs. Denise Bradshaw of Roanoke, and Mrs. Brenda Tucker, Roanoke; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mrs. Allen was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Chambers County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn and Mattie Allen of Five Points. She received her early education in Chambers County and received a degree in elementary education from Tuskegee University. After retiring from her career as a teacher, she served as a parish minister with the ministry of Roanoke Parish of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of Pine Grove UMC, Eastern Star Lily of the Valley Chapter No. 56 and Herion of Jericho Court No. 50. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Tyler of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Abbie McDowell of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Selena Ward of Five Points; one brother, Kyle Allen of Forestville, Md.; her step-mother, Mrs. Malinda Jones of LaFayette; and one granddaughter, four nieces and two nephews. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Scottsdale, Ga., and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Edmondson was a self-employed contractor. Ms. Houston, the former Faye Watkins, was a native of Roanoke, a member of First Baptist Church, and a graduate of Randolph County Training School. A resident of Columbia, S.C., for 23 years, she was retired from the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, where she was employed for 21 years as a clerical specialist. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4262, and a member of Unit 215 of the American Legion. A lifelong resident of Rock Mills, Mr. Hand was a Randolph County native, born October 29, 1929, son of Alpha Omega and Beddie Bell Sheppard Hand. He had worked in the spinning section at Wehadkee Mills for 47 1/2 years, and was a member of Rock Mills United Methodist Church and Roanoke Country Club. Mrs. Williams was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Onie Velon Williams, on Aug. 14, 1972. Mr. Rowland was a native of Roanoke. He joined New Harmony Baptist Church, LaFayette, at a very early age. After working 30 years at Pellam Service Station in downtown Roanoke, he and his wife left the area to reside in Tip [sic - Tipp] City, Ohio, for about 10 years, returning to Randolph County in 1980. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services were Sunday, June 19, at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, Roanoke, with Rev. Michael Strong, pastor, officiating. Burial was in East Roanoke Cemetery. Mr. Monagan was a native of Chambers County. He was married to the late Mary Eleanor Baker Monagan, who preceded him in death in 1966. Three of his 11 children (Oscar Lee, III, George David and Shirley Ann) also preceded him in death. In the 1940s he came to Roanoke, where he worked for several years with Roanoke Guano Company and the city of Roanoke. Despite a job-related disability, he was a loyal member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully as Sunday school superintendent and adult class teacher. He also served many years as a Boy Scout master and was a member of Western Lodge 538 of the Prince Hall Masons, Order of the Royal Arch. He served a number of years as the “Worthy Patron” of the Lily White Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Myers (LINEVILLE) Bertha H. Myers, 75, of Rt. 1 Lineville, died Tuesday, June 21, 1994, at Clay County Hospital, Ashland, after an extended illness. Graveside services were at Wedowee City Cemetery, Wedowee, at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, with Rev. Tom Roberts officiating. Mrs. Myers is survived by two daughters [sic - children?], Mrs. Gloria Mae Palmer of Skaggsville, Md., and Roosevelt Robey Jr.; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jimmy Dutton, James Dutton, James Dutton Jr., Clarence William Crider and Steve Scroggins. Mrs. Myers, a native of Maryland, had lived in Randolph County for the past four years. Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee, was in charge of arrangements. __________ Robert Edward “Robbie” Taft (ROANOKE) Funeral services for Robert Edward “Robbie” Taft, 23, of Route 3, Roanoke, were Saturday, June 25, 1994, at 2 p.m. from Roanoke First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Milton Booth officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memory Gardens. Mr. Taft died Thursday, June 23, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Taft was born in Roanoke on June 30, 1970. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and of the Roanoke Softball League and held a black belt in karate. He was employed by Pierce Meadows Construction. Survivors include his financee, Jennifer Sams of Franklin, Tenn.; his father, Waymon Taft, and his wife, Trude, of Roanoke; his mother, Linda Horton, and her husband, Dave, of Franklin, Tenn.; his grandparents, William R. and Bernice Taft of Roanoke, Jean Spillman of Hartsville, S.C., and W. J. Watson Jr. of Franklin, Tenn.; a brother, Stephen David Taft of San Diego, Calif.; and two sisters, Ashley Horton of Birmingham and Bronwyn Horton of Franklin, Tenn. Pallbearers were Jim Dunn, Chuck Fisher, Lucky Fisher, Lincoln Whaley, Jeremy Holmes and Troy Frost. Quattlebaum Funeral Home of Roanoke was in charge of arrangements. __________ Mary Frances Pogue (ROANOKE) Mary Frances Pogue, 61, of Roanoke died Thursday, June 23, 1994, in Valdosta, Ga. Miss Pogue was a lifelong resident of Roanoke. She was a member of the East Roanoke Church of God, where she served as assistant church secretary, Sunday school teacher and president of the ushers board. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Nora B. Wright of Roanoke; a brother, John Manley Grier of Atlanta, Ga.; and one aunt, Mrs. Gladys Haliburton of LaGrange, Ga. Services for Miss Pogue were Monday, June 27, at 3 p.m. from East Roanoke Church of God, with Elder Nathaniel McGriff and Bishop Stephen Ackey officiating. Interment was at Skyview Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were deacons of East Roanoke Church of God. Arrangements were by Silmon Mortuary of Roanoke. __________ Carolyn Mullery (PLEASANTON, Calif.) Graveside services for Carolyn Mullery, 43, of Pleasanton, Calif., formerly of Roanoke, were Tuesday, June 28, 1994, at 2 p.m. from Randolph Memory Gardens, with Rev. Milton Booth officiating. Mrs. Mullery died of heart failure Wednesday, June 22, at Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton. She was born in LaFayette, lived in Roanoke until the age of nine years and then resided in Montgomery. She attended the University of Tennessee, earning a master’s degree in computer science, and was vice president of marketing for GE/Calma in Milpitas until health problems forced her to retire in 1988. She was active in Presbyterian Community Church, the Pleasanton Newcomers and the Assistance League. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Michael Mullery of Pleasanton, and her mother, Sue Ashcraft of Montgomery. Annie Lee Williamson Stephens, 86, of Franklin, Ga., died at Ross Memorial Convalescent Center in Kennesaw, Ga., Monday, June 27, 1994, after several years of declining health. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 29, at 3 p.m. from the Prospect United Methodist Church in Heard County, with the Rev. Marlin White officiating. Interment will be in Randolph Memory Gardens, Roanoke, Ala. Vocal music was [sic - will] be rendered by Shane Jackson, accompanied at the piano by Ms. Kathy Jackson. Congregational music was [sic - will] also [be] rendered. Pallbearers were N. V. Williamson, Harold Williamson, Jerry Williamson, Chris Jackson, Terry Jackson and Oliver Jackson. Mrs. Stephens was a lifelong resident of Heard County. She was a retired sewing machine operator from Callaway Mills in LaGrange and was a member of the Canaan Primitive Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Crispen C. (Tip) Stephens. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Faye Jackson and Mrs. Neel Cole, both of Franklin, Mrs. Emily Thompson of Marietta, Ga., and Mrs. Julie Stephens of Los Gatos, Calif.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Dr. Mary Cozard of Oklahoma City, Okla., two brothers, Hulette Williamson of LaGrange and Dr. Ralph Williamson of Avondale Estates, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
