Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Perry died Friday, April 2, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mrs. Perry was born July 20, 1902, in Tallapoosa County, daughter of James Ferris and Minnie Ashley Thrower. She was a member of Midway Methodist Church and had been employed with Handley Mills. Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by a son, James W. Perry, and a daughter, Joan Hopkins. Survivors include her husband, Oran Perry Sr. of Roanoke; four daughters, Faye Dillard of Americus, Ga., Dot Rombokas and Shirley Andrews of Roanoke and Dianne Tarver of Alexander City; two sons, Oran Perry Jr. and Bobby Perry of Roanoke; one sister, Ruth Childers of Mellow Valley; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and ten great-great- grandchildren. Tex Ergle and the Rev. S. T. Janney officiating. Burial will be at Green's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. Miss Wallis died Tuesday, April 6, at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke. She was born in Randolph County on Feb. 14, 1909, daughter of Wilson W. and Fannie Alabama Wallis. She was a retired Handley High School teacher, having taught overseas in Germany and also in Georgia before retirement. She was a charter member of Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of First United Methodist Church of Roanoke. Survivors include several cousins. Pallbearers will be George Chambers, Ray Caldwell, Jimmy Young, Johnny Deason, Urban Dendinger and Greg Dendinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Huey, Hoyt Waldrep and Alvin Chambers. A lifelong resident of Woodland, he was born in Heard County, Ga., April 12, 1919, son of Pinky Marshall and Emma Maddox Gosdin. He had been self-employed as a carpenter and farmer and was a member of Neighborhood House of Prayer. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne T. Gosdin. He was retired from Bremen-Bowdon Investment Company and was a member and deacon of Goldridge Baptist Church and a member of Graham Lodge #354, F&AM. Yarbrough (LAGRANGE, Ga.) Virgil C. Yarbrough Sr., 76, of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, after a brief illness. Mr. Yarbrough was born March 14, 1923, in Randolph County, Ala., son of Thomas Washington and Julia Savannah Moore Yarbrough. He was retired from the Kex Plant of Milliken and Company after 35 years and has lived in LaGrange for the past 46 years. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A native of Roanoke, Mr. Brown was born Dec. 17, 1925, son of the late Charlie C. and Clemmie Pearl Young Brown. He worked for 35 years at Handley Mills in Roanoke, where he was a supervisor. Mr. Brown was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Alabama National Guard, a special deputy sheriff in Chambers County, and an auxiliary police officer in Roanoke. He lived in the Roanoke area for 40 years. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Lee Davis Brown of Alexander City; a son, Larry Brown of Alexander City; a daughter, Regina Bowen of Alexander City; four sisters, Lillie Cooper of Rock Mills, Flossie Waldrep and Mary Neil Daniel of Roanoke and Dot Maples of Bessemer; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a native of Roanoke, a graduate of Handley High School and attended Cox College in College Park, Ga. She was retired from Moore-Handley Inc. after 40 years of employment. She was a member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church, active in WMU, and also attended the Joy Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Francis Osment; her father, William Handley Mann Sr.; her mother, Verna Pittman Mann; and her brother, William Handley Mann Jr. She is survived by her niece, Judy Mann Beard of Birmingham; a grandniece; two great- grandnephews; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; a step-son; three step-granddaughters; and two step-grandsons.
