Burial was in Cedarwood Cemetery. Mrs. Davis died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City. A native of Randolph County, she was born March 26, 1905, daughter of the late William Alonzo Wilfe and the late Sarah Elizabeth Higgins Wilfe. She was employed as manager of the Bonner Hotel in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by husbands Hubert A. Bonner and Walter J. Davis. Surviving Mrs. Davis is one son, Hubert A. She was born in Heard County, Ga., on July 4, 1920, daughter of John C. and Martha Rice Meadows. She was employed at Duracell Battery Company and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Stevens, and a son, Horace Stevens. "Billo" as he was fondly known by everyone, was a talented mechanic who was very skillful in small engine repair. He worked for more than 40 years as a mechanic and a welder for the Carey Gauntt Welding Shop in Roanoke. Burial was in Cedarwood Cemetery. Mr. Morris died suddenly on Thursday evening at his home. A Roanoke resident most of his life, Mr. Morris was a Randolph County native, born Sept. 20, 1932, son of Hugh Lee Morris Sr. and Elsie Rowe Morris. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Roanoke. He had been a teacher with the Roanoke City School System and the football coach at Handley High School and Wadley High School. Mr. Morris also coached at Faulkville High School during the 1960s. He served as superintendent of Randolph County Schools. Mr. Morris founded Roanoke Little League and was a member of the Roanoke Quarterback Club. Survivors include his wife, Lucy Durham Morris of Roanoke; two daughters, Ann Jones of Newcastle, Wyo., and Frances Morris of Roanoke; two sons, Wayne Morris of Seattle, Wash., and William Morris of Roanoke; two brothers, Ellis R. Morris of Orlando, Fla., and Bobby Morris of Roanoke; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A lifelong resident of Randolph County, she was born June 9, 1920, daughter of Martin Luther Nobley and Arizona Britt Nobley. She had been employed at Handley Mills and was a member of North Main Congregational Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Daughtrey. Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Pollard of Roanoke, Wanda Jeffers of Ramer and Deborah D. Loporto of Wadley; three sisters, Mattie Craft of Lanett, Ethel Willingham of Woodland and Clara Allen of Roanoke; two brothers, Elmer Nobley of Roanoke and Vinson Nobley of Newell; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be floral or donations can be made to Clay County Hospice. Pallbearers will be Chad Norred, Jerry Pollard, Jeff Pollard, Jay Loporto, Mike Jeffers, Michael Jeffers, Matt Jeffers, Jody Driver and Nicco Loporto. "Jimmy" Edwards Jr., 55, of Roanoke died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Montgomery. Mr. Edwards was a native of West Point, Ga., born March 18, 1945. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was employed as a construction welder. He was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Margaret Edwards of Valley; three sisters, Sandra Doll of Pensacola, Fla., Beverly Spivey of Valley and Debra Morkes of West Point; four stepdaughters, Judy Helms of Tennessee, Tammy Davis of Hawaii, Annie Siskey of Alabama and Gail Carney of Florida; four stepsons, Kenny Clark and Edward Clark of Alabama, Robert Clark of Florida and Johnny Clark of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Grace Edwards. Services were at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley at 1 p.m. EST on Monday, Jan. 22, with burial in Beulah Cemetery.
