Don Paris officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.    Mrs. Haynes died Tuesday, April 1, at Wedowee Hospital.    Mrs. Haynes was a native of Randolph County, born Feb. 19, 1914, daughter of Jasper D. Norred and Carrie Cofield Norred.  She was retired from Randolph County Board of Education as a teacher and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wedowee.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Haynes; a son Randy Haynes; and a sister, Beris Turner.    Mrs. Haynes is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Don Green of Roanoke; daughter-in-law Deborah Haynes of Notasulga; two sisters, Blanche Crews of Wedowee and Lois Bankhead of Blackstock, S.C.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.    Pallbearers will be Michael Haynes, Chad Green, Cal Green, Norred Crews, Al Haynes, Vernon Lipham and Ricky Daniel.    The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday until one hour prior to services. Mrs. Haynes will lie in state at the church beginning at 10 a.m.    Arrangements are by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee. __________ Elma Gertrude Duck Avery    (ROANOKE) Services for Elma Gertrude Duck Avery, 93, of Roanoke will be Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Ben Keeble, Elder Ted Price and Elder Steve Stableton and Elder Marshall Avery officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.    Mrs. Avery died Sunday, March 30, at her home.    A Tallapoosa County native, Mrs. Avery was born Feb. 2, 1910, daughter of John William Whitfield Duck and Mary Frances Ingram Duck.  She was a member of Rock[y] Mount Primitive Baptist Church and a homemaker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Roy Avery; one son, William Harvey Roy Junior Avery; and a brother, Hiram Duck.    Survivors include five daughter[s], Frances Treadwell and Jean Payne of Newnan, Ga., Mattie Perry of Phoenix, Ariz., Ruby Dean Avery of Roanoke and Nellie Estes of Birmingham; one sister, Lessie Harrington of Alex City; one brother, Andrew Duck of Alex City; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.    Mrs. Avery will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services.    Pallbearers will be Calvin Bishop, Kenny Whitehead, Charles B. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.    Funeral services were Tuesday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Roy Bain officiating.  Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.    Mrs. Seymour is survived by her husband, Harold A. Seymour; two sons, James Manley of Valley and Jack Manley of Headland; two sisters, Clara Williams of Daphne and Debra Baldwin of Canton, Ga.; three brothers, Clinton Baldwin of Randolph County, Wallace Baldwin of Auburn and Pierce Baldwin of Franklin, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.    Born May 26, 1923, in Roanoke, Mrs. Seymour was a homemaker.  She was a member of Lanett Congregational Christian Church.  She was the daughter of the late Clara Cantrell Baldwin and William A. William Dean officiating.    Mrs. Weddle died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Sunbridge for Tuscumbia in Tuscumbia.    A Randolph County native, Mrs. Weddle was born Nov. 13, 1905, daughter of William Benjamin and Cora Smith Crouch.  Mrs. Weddle enjoyed a 40-year career as an education [educator], teaching 27 years in Alabama and 13 years in Virginia. She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church, where she served as pianist and Sunday school teacher.  She was on the faculty of Big Springs for many years.    Mrs. Weddle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. M. Stone of Bassett, Va.; sisters, Jimmie Lee Vinson of Roanoke and Sarah Webb of Oxford; and brothers William L. Crouch and J. T. Crouch of Birmingham.    Survivors include her brother-in-law, William Hoyt Vinson of Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews.    Don Green, Jack Green, and nephews of Mrs. Weddle served as pallbearers.    Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke. __________ Ralph Olan Crawford    (ANNISTON) Services for Ralph Olan Crawford, 85, of Anniston were Saturday, March 29, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Anniston with the Rev. Harold Skipper officiating.  Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery with Chapel Hill Funeral Home in charge.    Mr. Crawford died Wednesday, March 26, in Orlando, Fla.    Survivors include his wife, Lillie Crawford of Anniston; a daughter, Diane De La Nuez of Orlando; a son, Ralph Crawford Jr. of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Vernie Perry of Wedowee; two stepsons, David P. Laney of Anniston and Jack Laney of Birmingham; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.    Pallbearers were Jack Laney, David Laney, Mario De La Nuez, Darrell Laney Jr., Bryan Laney and Phillip Laney.    Mr. Crawford, a Talladega native, lived in Anniston most of his life.  He was a member of West Anniston Church of God.  He retired from Anniston Army Depot and was a World War II Army veteran, serving during the European invasion from Normandy Beach to Berlin.  He received the European Theater Campaign medal with five Bronze Stars, American National Defense Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. __________ Ann B. Gaston    (OXFORD) Services for Andrew L. Gaston, 91, of Oxford were Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and Crematory Chapel in Anniston with the Rev. Clay Stephens officiating.  Burial was in Corinth Cemetery in Randolph County with Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge.    Mr. Gaston died Tuesday, March 25, at Beverly Health Care in Oxford.    Survivors include seven nieces, Jane Clement and Frankie Williams, both of Oxford, Ann Cardwell, Betty Brooks and Joann Schneck, all of Anniston, and Wanda Carter and Virginia Black, both of Birmingham; and seven nephews, Bobby Gaston, Lynn Gaston and Jerry Self, all of Anniston, Gwin Norred of Oxford, Charles Stewart and Terry Gaston, both of Birmingham, and Sam Gaston of Florida.    Pallbearers were Michael Gaston, Lynn Gaston, Robert Cardwell, Mark Cardwell, David Tillman and Ty Dingler.    Mr. Gaston was a longtime Calhoun County resident and a retired farmer.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellie Davis; his parents, Henry O. and Annie Merill Gaston; four sisters, and three brothers. __________ Minnie Marshall Crouch    (THOMASTON, Ga.) Services for Minnie E. Don Paris officiating.  Burial followed in Wedowee City Cemetery.    Mrs. Yates died Monday, March 24, at Randolph Medical Center.    Mrs. Yates was a native of Carroll County, Ga., born Aug. 23, 1909, the daughter of William Martin and Mollie Evelyn Kaylor Moon.  She had worked at Palm Beach Manufacturing and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wedowee and Wedowee St. Senior Citizens Center.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt James Yates, two sisters and five brothers.    Mrs. Yates is survived by a daughter, Catherine May of Roanoke; a son, James Hoyt Yates Jr. of Wedowee; a brother, Dewell Moon of Carrollton; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.    Pallbearers were Ronnie Yates, Kevin Yates, Billy Worthy, John Lambert and Jim Lambert.    Arrangements were by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee. __________ Eddie Murphy    (ANNISTON) Eddie Murphy, 71, of Anniston died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Beckwood Nursing Home in Anniston.    Survivors include a daughter, Belinda Murphy; two sons, Eddie Murphy and James Parker; and 11 grandchildren.    Mr. Murphy was a Wadley native and a veteran.  He retired from Union Foundry.    Arrangements were K. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. __________ Nannie Marie Mann    (CUSSETA) Nannie Marie Mann, 60, of Cusseta died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.    Funeral services were Saturday, April 5, at 4 p.m. at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Harold Burkett and Jason Gooden officiating.  Burial followed in Cusseta Cemetery.    Mrs. Mann is survived by her husband, Glen Owen Mann; her daughter, Callie Amberly Mann of Huguley; three step-children, Deborah Oneal and Richard O. Mann of Lanett and David L. Mann of the U.S. Air Force; two brothers, James Richardson of Lithia Springs, Ga., and Pete Richardson of Roanoke; eight step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.    Born in LaGrange, Ga., on June 23, 1942, Mrs. Mann was a very active Red Cross donor.  She was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Lanier-Carter Mill.  She was an exceptionally kind and caring mother.    Arrangements were by Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home, Valley. __________ C. Paul Howard and the Rev. Russell Williams will officiate.    Mr. Fant was born in Chambers County on Jan. 1, 1919, son of the late Olin G. and Janie H. John Tom Greene, 98, of Alpharetta, Ga., died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Dogwood Forest, Alpharetta.    Mrs. [Mr.] Greene was born in Chambers County on March 28, 1905, son of the late Florence Liles Green[e] and John Henry Green[e].  He was a teacher and coach and served as superintendent of Lanett City Schools from 1946 to 1971.  He retired after 45 years as an educator.  He was a member of Lanett First United Methodist Church.    Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte N. Dewberry of Roswell, Ga., and Ann Green of Tucker, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Beaird of West Point, Ga.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace P. Greene; four sisters and one brother.    Services will be at Lanett First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. EDT on Thursday, April 17, with burial in New Hope Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.  Dr. Brian Wyatt, the Rev. Bill Dean officiating.  Burial was at Cedarwood Cemetery.    Mr. Tompkins died Saturday, Aril 12, at Hospice LaGrange.    A long-time Roanoke resident, Mr. Tompkins was born March 18, 1917, in Arab, son of William Marshal and Emma Elizabeth Green Tompkins.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and had been employed with Transco.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Frank Tompkins.    Survivors include four nieces, Fay B. Prescott of Saraland, Barbara T. Gibson of Wadley.    Born June 6, 1912, in Randolph County, Mrs. Stephens was a graduate of the University of Alabama.  She was a school teacher who also taught World War II veterans.  She was a member of Lanett Congregational Christian Church.  Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her daughter, Lavania Stephens Bouchard; her husband, Charley L. Stephens; and her brother, John B. Boyd died Thursday, April 17, at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Birmingham.    Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Scarborough and her husband, David, of Birmingham; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.    The Rev. Boyd graduated from John H. Snead Seminary in 1934 and from Wood College in 1938.  He was ordained as a deacon in the Methodist Church in 1941. He was ordained as an elder in 1943.  He retired in 1976 after more than 40 years of active ministry.  After retirement, he served for 19 years as a visiting minister at Oxford United Methodist Church.  He was a Randolph County native.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Rebecca Ligon Boyd, and his parents, Charles and Emily "Betty" Boyd.    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Oxford.  Arrangements were by Miller Funeral Home. __________ Frank Cook    (LAGRANGE, Ga.) Calvin Trammell, pastor, officiating.  Burial was at Skyview Memorial Gardens, Welch.    Ms. Burrow died Tuesday evening, April 15, at Randolph Medical Center, Roanoke.    She was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Randolph County to the late Green and Mary Staples Briskey.  The ninth of 10 children, Ms. Burrow was a lifelong member of Hopewell Baptist Church in the Abanda community, where she was an active member until advancing age limited her activities.  She was the longest-lived member of her family, having survived the passing of six brothers and three sisters.  Ms. Burrow was also preceded in death by four daughters and three sons, one of whom died in infancy.  They include Anirine Burrow, Rudine Burrow, Annie Kate Burrow, Debra Heflin, Wyatt Burrow Jr. and Ocie B. Amon and Sister Ida Amon officiating.  Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  The body will be place in the church one hour prior to services.    Surviving are two brothers, Mance Knight Jr. and Rayfield Knight of Dayton, Ohio; and three sistes [sisters], Ms. Lola Yates and Ms. Flora Bridges of Wedowee and Ms. Iola Gist of Dayton, Ohio.    Mr. Knight was born March 8, 1928, in Randolph County, son of the late Mance and Fannie Heard Knight.  During his early years in Randolph County, he joined Stephens Mission United Methodist Church, Wedowee.  He lived in Dayton, Ohio, for many years where he joined the Revelation Missionary Baptist Church.    Arrangements are by Clark Memorial Funeral Service, Roanoke. __________ James Hugh Radney Sr.    (WADLEY) Services for James Hugh Radney, 79, of Wadley were Monday, April 28, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Wadley First United Methodist Church.  Burial was at Wadley Cemetery.  The Rev. Joe Mallory and the Rev. Abi Carlisle-Wilke officiated.    Mr. Radney died on Friday, April 25, following an extended illness.    He was born in Wadley on March 13, 1924, to James M. and Beatrice Radney.  He retired from Transcontinental Gas Pipeline after 30 years of service.  He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Wadley.    At the age of 19, Hugh enlisted in the U.S. Army and was attached to the 140th Field Artillery Battalion during World War II.  He served in the Philippines for three years and fought in the battles of the Northern Solomons and Luzon.  He received the APTO Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Arrowhead and World War II Victory Medal.    He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Anna Jo Radney; a daughter, Ann Traylor; his parents, James and Beatrice Radney; sisters Mary Frances Radney Smith and Louise Radney; and brother Lawrence Radney.    He is survived by two daughters, Sue Radney Lane of Valencia, Calif., and Catherine Radney Stringfellow of Wadley; two sons, Jim Radney of Jacksonville, Fla., and John Radney of McDonough, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven nieces; two nephews; a sister, Sara Edge; a brother, Tom Radney; and many loving friends.    Memorial contributions may be sent to Clay County Hospice at Clay County Hospital, P.O. Goodson    (NEWNAN, Ga.) Charles L. Goodson, 75, of Newnan, Ga., died on Saturday, April 19, 2003, at LaGrange Hospice after an extended illness.    Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Enloe Goodson, formerly of Roanoke; two daughters, Jane Goodson of Brunswick, Ga., and Leigh Goodson Harris of Waynesville, Ohio; two sons, Page Goodson and Charles L. Goodson Jr. of Carrollton, Ga., and six grandchildren.    A graveside service was at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Gary Parrish officiating.    Mr. Goodson was born in Franklin, Ga., on March 24, 1928, son of the late Ora Lee and Thomas Goodson.  He was a graduate of Heard County High School and he graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia Law School in 1950.  From 1951-1953 he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star.  He was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives and served from 1953-1955.  From 1955-1957 he was an administrative assistant to U.S. Rep. Jack Flynt in Washington, D.C.    President John F. Kennedy appointed him U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia in 1961.  He was reappointed by President Lyndon B. Johnson and served until 1969, when he returned to Newnan to practice law.  He was attorney for the cities of Newnan and Franklin and for Heard County.  He served three years on the State of Georgia Bar Disciplinary Committee.    He retired from law practice in 1984.  In retirement he served on the board of directors of C&S Bank in Newnan and was chairman of the Bank of Heard County and Heard County Regions Bank from 1984-1996.  He was a member of Newnan First United Methodist Church.    Memorial contributors should be made to LaGrange Hospice.    Arrangements were by McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan. __________ Ernestine P. Brian Smith officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.    Mrs. Nolen died Friday, April 25, at her residence.    Mrs. Nolen was a native of Cleburne County, born Feb. 3, 1909, daughter of James Ole Yarbrough and Nancy Lucinda Huckabee.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jacob Nolen; an infant son; another son, James Herbert Nolen; a granddaughter; a grandson; two brothers and three sisters.  She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.    Mrs. Nolen is survived by three daughters, Myrtle Cummings of Newell, Florene Walls of Heflin and Alice Robinson of Bowdon, Ga.; one son, William "Bill" Nolen of Newell; two sisters, Rosie Deese of [and] Ina Cohan of Bowdon; two brothers, J. O. Yarbrough of Ranburne and Burl Yarbrough of Bowdon; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren.    Pallbearers were her grandsons.    Arrangements were by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee. __________ Linda Ponder Johnson    (ROANOKE) Services for Linda Ponder Johnson, 54, of Roanoke were Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 2 p.m. at United Fellowship Baptist Church with Jerry Hovis and Mike Stinson officiating.  Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Chapel Hill Funeral Home of Anniston in charge.    Mrs. Johnson died Monday, April 21, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.    Survivors include two daughters, Angie Gregoria of Alexandria and Amy Johnson of Birmingham; a son, Josh Johnson of Alexandria; two sisters, Patsy Ponder of Anniston and Sherry Bowen of Roanoke; her in-laws, Albert and Frances Johnson of Anniston; three grandchildren and a godchild.    Pallbearers were Bobby Konkel, Keith Ponder, Chris Ponder and Jamie Haynes.    Mrs. Johnson, a Calhoun County native and longtime resident, was a member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Huntsville.  She retired from Army Missile Command in Huntsville with 25 years service.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Johnson. __________ Lois Mashburn Daniel    (CARROLLTON, Ga.) Lois Mashburn Daniel, 95, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Sue Culpepper Lovelady, in Carrollton, Ga.    She was born Sept. 15, 1907, daughter of the late George Washington and Lula Bailey Washington in Randolph County, where she lived until she graduated from high school in Wedowee and attended college in Auburn.  She taught in public schools in Randolph and Cleburne County.    Survivors include two daughters, Sue Lovelady of Carrollton and Emily Douthit of Bowdon, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Joan Moore of Shawmut; a sister, Oleta Sudduth of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.    She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Mashburn, in 1966, and her second husband in 1973, six Washington brothers and four sisters.    She was a member of a Christian church since age 13, taught Sunday school for 55 years and was a church pianist wherever she attended.  Mrs. Daniel was very active in First Christian Church in Carrollton since 1948.  She served as a volunteer Gray Lady at Tanner Hospital and was a saleslady at Bennett's Dress Shop for 17 years.  After her retirement at the age 72, she stayed busy working on genealogy of seven generations of the Washington family, crafts and reading.    Services will be Wednesday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, with Minister Denver Sizemore and Herb Strobino officiating.  Music will be provided by Anita Craven, Luanne Hutcheson, Dawn Broome and Susan Ingle. Pallbearers will be Tony Mashburn, Kem Mashburn, Alan Culpepper, Bob Douthit, Roy Hanson and Paul Skelton.  Interment will be in Carrollton City Cemetery.    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Woodland Christian Camp, 90 Woodland Camp Road, Temple, GA 30179 or Hospice Care, P.O.
