Richard Richie officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.    Mrs. Strickland will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services.    Mrs. Strickland died Sunday, Feb. 1, at Randolph Medical Center.    Survivors include one daughter, Gail Heard; a sister, Laura Bell Wright; a grandson; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.    Pallbearers will be Bobby Wright, Matthew Mitchell, David Mitchell, Wayne Edmondson, Gary Wright and Lee Wright.    A lifelong Roanoke resident, Mrs. Strickland was born July 31, 1928, daughter of Carl and Alice Aldridge Ussery.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and had been employed with Roanoke Fashions.    Arrangements are by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke. __________ Barlice Saltsman Adamson    (LAGRANGE, Ga.) Services for Barlice Saltsman Adamson, 87, of LaGrange, Ga., will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lime Christian Church, with the Rev. Stanley Yarbrough officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Mrs. Adamson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services.    Mrs. Adamson died Monday, Feb. 2, at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.    Survivors include two sisters, Virginia Velona of Alexandria, La., and Jean Wood of Temple, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.    Mrs. Adamson was a former resident of Roanoke and was born July 26, 1916, in Tallapoosa County, daughter of F. Barker and Alice Patterson Saltsman.  She was a member of Bethany Lime Christian Church and had been employed as a school teacher for 30 years with LaGrange City Schools.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbredge G. Adamson.    In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to one's favorite charity or Bethany Lime Christian Church, 1524 Co. Kevin Marshall.  Interment was in the church cemetery.    Ms. Mackey is survived by a son, Huey Mackey of LaFayette; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.    Arrangements were by Roanoke Funeral Home. __________ Mary Jo McManus Akin    (VALLEY) Mary Jo Akin, 78, of Valley died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at her residence.    Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Revs. James Harper and Fred Buchanan officiating.  Burial followed in Shawmut Cemetery.    Mrs. Akin is survived by two sons, Eugene Williams of Valley and Harry Williams of Sylacauga; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Curlurla Pilkington of Valley.    Born Aug. 26, 1925, in Randolph County, Mrs. Aiken was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens Langdale Mill.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She was a member of Shawmut United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Aiken was the daughter of the late Ethel Virdie Moore McManus and Joseph Edward McManus.    Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice in her memory.    Arrangements were by Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home, Valley. __________ Timothy Wayne Messer    (MARYVILLE, Tenn.) Timothy Wayne Messer, 56, of Maryville, Tenn., formerly of Woodland, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at his home.    Services were Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville, with the Rev. Raymond Burnett officiating.  Entombment was Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.    Survivors include his wife, Gerrae Moore Messer of Maryville; his mother, Kathleen A. Messer of Wedowee; his brother, Larry J. Messer of Wedowee; sons Bryan Riddle, Russell Riddle and Billy Riddle, all of Maryville; seven grandchildren; a nephew, a niece and a great-nephew.    Mr. Messer was born in Randolph County July 17, 1947.  He was a member of Ava United Methodist Church.  He graduated from Auburn University in 1969 and was retired from TVA.  He was preceded in death by his father, W. Henderson Messer.    Arrangements were by Smith Mortuary, Maryville. __________ Tommy Gene Ledford    (WEDOWEE) Tommy Gene Ledford, 62, of Douglasville, Ga., and Wedowee died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004.    He was born July 29, 1941, in Hiawassee, Ga., son of the late Gline W. and Maggie Ledford.  Mr. Ledford was retired from Western Union Telegraph and AT&T.  He was Baptist by faith.     Survivors include his wife, Judy Wilson Ledford of Douglasville and Wedowee; two sons, Casey Ledford of Corona, Calif., and Kevin Ledford of Douglasville; a brother, Roger Ledford of Wedowee; a sister, Glenda Cotton of Tucker, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.    Graveside services were Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Community Cemetery in Hayesville, N.C.    Memorial donations may be to a charity or church of your choice.    Arrangements were by Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home, Douglasville. __________ Harold Lavander Bowen    (ROANOKE) Services for the Rev. David Daniel officiating.  Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.    Mr. Hanson died Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Wedowee Hospital.    Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Bonnie W. Fincher and Douglas Yates.    Mr. Hanson was a native of Cleburne County, but had lived most of his life in Randolph County.  He was born Nov. 18, 1921, son of George W. Hanson and Leola Pirkle Hanson.  He was retired from Randolph County Road Department as a truck driver and was a Baptist by faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jimmie Lue Strain; and two brothers, Chester Hanson and Luther Hanson. __________ Rose Lovett Gunter    (BIRMINGHAM) Rose Lovett Gunter, 71, of Birmingham, formerly of Lanett, died Thursday evening, Jan. 1, 2004, at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.    Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 4, at 4 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Dr. Hugh Richardson officiating.  Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery in Lanett.    Mrs. Gunter is survived by her husband, Keith D. Gunter; one son, Keith Gunter Jr. of Birmingham; and one sister, Betty Lovett Cunningham of Douglasville, Ga., and Standing Rock.    Born Feb. 28, 1932, in Early County, Ga., Mrs. Gunter had been a resident of the Birmingham area for the past 47 years.  She was an artist, woodcarver and all-around good cook.  She was in the second group of nurse's aides to be taught at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in the 1950s.  Mrs. Gunter was a member of First Baptist Church of Centerpoint.  She was the daughter of the late Rosa Lee Hartley Lovett and James Earl Lovett.    Arrangements were by Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home, Valley. __________ Agnes Robinson    (RANBURNE) Services for Agnes Robinson, 88, of Ranburne were Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at 2 p.m. CST at Rainwater & West Funeral Home Inc. in Bowdon, Ga., with the Rev. Lendon Fields officiating.  Burial will follow at Rock Stand Christian Church Cemetery.    Mr. Rashford died Sunday, Feb. 1, at his home.    Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marie Cobb Rashford. of Wedowee; one daughter, Sandra Rashford Tierson of Lyons,, N.Y; one son, Gary Wayne Rashford of Ft. Bonner    (STOCKBRIDGE, Ga.) Agnes M. Bonner, 75, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004.    She is survived by a daughter, Karen L. Bonner of Stockbridge; two sons, Kris W. Bonner of Reidsville, N.C., and Keith S. Tim Irwin officiating.  Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.    Mrs. Pollock is survived by two stepdaughters, Ellen Heggood of Columbus, Ga., and Peggy Davis of Phenix City; one step-daughter-in-law, Frankie Pollock of Columbus; several nieces and nephews; six step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great- grandchild.    Born Jan. 16, 1912, in Randolph County, Mrs. Pollock was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Troup County Senior Citizen Center.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Pollock Sr.    Arrangements were by Resthaven Funeral Home, Lanett. __________ Edmond Lee Huckleberry    (LAGRANGE, Ga.) The Rev. Edmond Lee Huckleberry, 72, of LaGrange, Ga., died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004.    He was born on May 10, 1931, in Greenfield, Ind., and was the son of the late Robert and Eva Huckleberry.  He graduated from Maxwell High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1951, and served his country from more than a year in Korea. In 1954, he married June Stroud, and they returned to Indiana, where they had five loving children.  The Rev. Huckleberry was a retired minister who served churches in Vevey, Ind., Lewisville, Ind., and Straughn, Ind.  He served as Sunday school teacher and deacon at Baptist Tabernacle for many years.    In addition to his wife, Rev. Huckleberry is survived by five children, Mike Huckleberry, Debra Langford, Kathy Mercer and Robert Huckleberry, all of LaGrange, and Jeannie Edmondson of Roanoke; a special daughter, Sherry Huckleberry of LaGrange; 11 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.    Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Tabernacle with the pastor, Rev. Wagoner of Weaver; three brothers, Roger Brooks of Anniston, Martis Brooks of Ohatchee and Jimmy Brooks of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Hulene Pointer of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and an aunt.    Pallbearers were Brandon Thrasher, Matt Keener, Tim Adams, Bo Dowdy, James Roper and Michael Moudy.    Mrs. Walker was an Anniston resident most of her life.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Eva Daugherty Brooks; and an infant son, John Wagoner. __________ Josh Hardnett    (DAVISTON) Josh Hardnett, 93, of Daviston, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at his residence.    Services were at Coga Hill C.M.E. Church, Daviston, on Monday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Carlisle officiating.  Interment was in the church cemetery.    Surviving are his wife, Emma Hardnett of Daviston; five daughters, Moline Rowe of Daviston, Gladys Staples and Louise Thomas of Wadley, and Pauline Walker and Mable Nkanta of Queens, N.Y.; one son, Vernon Hardnett of Roanoke; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.    Born Jan. 1, 1911, Mr. Hardnett was a lifelong resident of Tallapoosa County. Spradoin [Spradlin] of Ranburne; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.    Pallbearers were Kenneth Spradlin, Casey Spradlin, Ron Spradlin, Dean Conn, Lane Ferguson and Dave Harding.    A Randolph County native, Mrs. Spradlin was born July 31, 1911, daughter of James Walker McDow and Eva Mae Fincher McDow.  She was retired from the Randolph County School System as an elementary school teacher.  She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Auburn Alumni Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Providence Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Spradlin, and two sisters, Onyce Daniel and Ruby Holcombe.    Arrangements were by Benefield Funeral Home, Wedowee. __________ Lydia Delilah Rather    (WADLEY) Services for Lydia Delilah Rather, 46, of Wadley were Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Mountain Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Paris officiating.  Burial followed at Restlawn Memory Gardens, LaGrange.    Mrs. Hall died Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Ave Hills Assisted Living in Wedowee.    Survivors include two stepdaughters, Frances Bryan and Eleanor Foley of Sun City Center, Fla.; three sisters, Eltis Cummins of Roanoke, Juliet Peterson of Montgomery and Wylodene Bates of Woodland; two brothers, James Graham of Roanoke and Charles Graham of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.    Mrs. Hall was born Feb. 19, 1906, in Randolph County, daughter of John and Odessa Lester Graham.  She was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Scott Hall.    Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke. __________ Margaret Rainwater Hadaway    (VALLEY) Margaret Rainwater Hadaway, 89, of Valley died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Randolph Medical Center in Roanoke.    Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. EST at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Revs. Gerald Sheppard and Joseph Schuck officiating.  Burial followed in Randolph Memory Gardens.    Mrs. Hadaway is survived by one son, Warner A. Rainwater of Fairfax; one daughter, Gwendolyn Pike of Marietta, Ga.; one stepson, Wendell Hadaway of Fairfax; seven grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.    Born April 14, 1914, in Colquitt County, Ga., Mrs. Hadaway was an employee of WestPoint Pepperell for more than 10 years.  She worked at the Fairfax Mill. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Hadaway was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Hadaway; one stepson, Larry Hadaway; and one brother, G. W. Baggett.  She was the daughter of the late George W. and Minnie Gray Baggett.    Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church in her memory.    Arrangements were by Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home. __________ H. M. Perry    (VALLEY) Mr. H. M. "Captain Jack" Perry, 67, of Valley died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.    Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. EST at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Billy Clark officiating.  Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.    Mr. Perry is survived by one daughter, Dianna McMahon of Eugene, Ore.; one son, Michael Perry of Morgantown, Pa.; one brother, Walter Perry of Lancaster, Tenn.; two sisters, Gail Blackmon of Fredonia and Janice Abney of Valley; five grandchildren and five nephews.    Born May 11, 1936, in Randolph County, Mr. Perry was a retired member of the U.S. Army with 20 years of service.  He served in Korea and Vietnam.  He was an avid fisherman.  He was a good storyteller with a sense of humor.  Mr. Perry was a caring man who was respected by all.    Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to one's favorite charity in his memory.    Arrangements were by Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home, Valley. __________ Casey Morgan    (ROANOKE) Casey Morgan, 36, of Roanoke died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at East Alabama Medical Center, Opelika.    Services were Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2:30 p.m. at New Life Worship Center, with Pastor Lathonia Wright officiating.  Interment was in East Roanoke Cemetery.    Mr. Morgan is survived by his mother, Napate Ware of Roanoke; his father, Henry Hughley of Roanoke; his stepfather, Johnny Ware of Roanoke; five sisters, Engrid Ogletree, Salena Thompson, Robin Thompson, Robbie Thompson and Rhonda Barker, all of Roanoke; and three brothers, Tyia Thompson, Henrico Thompson and Jimmy L. Stanley Duke officiating.    Mr. Bennett is survived by one son, William Michael Bennett; and one niece, Marjorie Burnside of Lanett.    Born Dec. 31, 1912, in Randolph County, Mr. Bennett was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Fairfax Mill, with many years of service with the company. Bobby Kirby officiating.    The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.    Dr. Lovvorn passed away Monday, Feb. 23, at Bright-Glade Convalescent Home in Memphis.  The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Auburn Veterinarian School or to the Memphis Humane Society.    Survivors include a daughter, Linda Neill of Memphis; a son, Travis Lovvorn of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Nellie Greene of Peachtree City, Ga., and Deane Frazier of East Point, Ga.; and two grandchildren.    Dr. Lovvorn was a Randolph County native and was a veterinarian for 65 years. David Pittman Henry, 85, of Bainbridge, Ga., died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Memorial Manor in Bainbridge.    Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at First Baptist Church in Bainbridge, with burial at Oak City Cemetery.  Dr. Leroy C. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 39817.    Mr. Henry was born on May 12, 1918, in Roanoke, son of Winston David Henry and Maggie Smith Pittman Henry.  He graduated from Handley High School and married Frances Pope Buckalew on May 18, 1941.  He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, from which he retired as master sergeant, and moved to Bainbridge, in 1963.  He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years before retiring.  He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Baraca Sunday School class.  He was also a member of the Garden Club and removed trees for many families in the Bainbridge area.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Buckalew Henry, and a grandson, Doug Henry.    Survivors include six sons, David Pittman Henry of Birmingham, Roby L. Henry of Dallas, Texas, Sam A. Henry of Glenwood, Ga., Hugh D. Henry of Boardman, Ohio, Jerry T. Henry of Woodstock, Ga., and Frank M. Henry of Gainesville, Ga.; a daughter, Julie H. Crozier of Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, James Henry of Birmingham; two sisters, Sadie Rearden of West Point, Ga., and Marilena Willoughby of Smiths; 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.    Arrangements are by Ivey Funeral Home, Bainbridge. ______________________________________________________
