Burmon Aubrey Noles, 53, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at his home. Mr. Noles was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Randolph County, Ala., and was the son of the late Andrew Madison and Inez Robinson Noles. He worked as a textile mechanic for both Dixie Mills and Trintex and was a member of Prospect Methodist Church in Woodland. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Cindy Noles; sons, Shane Noles, Scotty Martin and Austin Noles, all of LaGrange; one daughter, Veronica Noles of LaGrange; four grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Noles of Woodland; and sisters Yvonne Price of Huguley, Dianne Nichols of Carrollton, Ga., and Ethel Robinson of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Debra Elaine Noles; and three brothers, Lewis, Terry and James Noles. She had lived most of her life in LaGrange and was retired from the Troup County School System. Mrs. Sullivan was a member of Unity Baptist Church, where she attended the Winsome Sunday School Class and was active in the Happy Seniors. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Eugene Sullivan. He was born October 7, 1921, in Randolph County, the oldest of five children to George and Jessie Willingham. Mr. Willingham was a World War II veteran and was retired from the Anniston Soil Pipe Company. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, gardening and all outdoor activities. She worked for eight years in Wedowee in the tax assessor's office, for 14 years was manager of Dale's dress shop in LaGrange, Ga., and for 14 years was manager of Top Dollar Store in Roanoke. She was educated in the public schools of Randolph County and graduated from Jacksonville State University. She taught kindergarten when her children were small and later worked as director of volunteers at The Link Counseling Center in Sandy Springs, Ga., a non-profit community service for families in crisis. Family was always foremost in her life, she genuinely loved people, and as a friend to many. She and Preston were great sports fans, especially of the Braves, the Hawks and Auburn. Betty loved birds, gardens and flowers, and their backyard was a sanctuary for wildlife. She enjoyed music. She was a life-long Methodist and a life-long Democrat and was proud of both. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Preston Eugene Williamson; children Alan Preston Williamson of Cranford, N.J., and Cindy Williamson Huppert of Atlanta; three grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Traylor of Oakdale, Calif., and Bill Traylor of Wedowee; several nieces and a nephew, and a host of friends. Mr. Simpson was born in Randolph County Dec. 3, 1915, to the late James and Mattie Traylor Simpson. He was a graduate of Woodland High School. He attended Auburn University and Jacksonville State University, playing on the football team at both schools. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Simpson retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1980. He worked with farmers throughout the West Georgia area, dealing primarily with testing cows for disease. He was a long-time member, Sunday school teacher and elder of Pine Hill Christian Church in Randolph County. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Idell Simpson. Runette Burke Hodges, 76, of Columbus, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at her home. Services were at 4 p.m. EDT on Thursday, Aug. 25, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmy Cook and Dr. Bill Shorey officiating. Services were at 1 p.m. CDT Friday, Aug. 26, at Quattlebaum Funeral. Burial followed in Randolph Memory Gardens, Roanoke. Mrs. Hodges was born Sept. 7, 1928, in Roanoke, daughter of the late Monroe and Teddy Smith Burke. She lived in Columbus 46 years and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Mrs. Hodges was a homemaker and retired from Swift Spinning Mills. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark S. Hodges, a sister, Irene Hunt, and a brother, Grover Burke. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, John R. Hodges; a son, Mike Hodges of Blairsville, Ga.; a daughter, Debbie Hodges-Edwards of Canton, Ga.; one sister, Betty Burke Haynes of College Park, Ga.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
