Mr. Clack died Monday, Feb. 27,, at Randolph Medical Center. Survivors include his fiance, Tonya Fuller of Roanoke; two daughters, Jessica Laine Clack and Sara Louise Fuller, both of Roanoke; his parents, Thomas and Sigrid Clack of Pierre, S.D.; one sister, Jackie Clack Hansen of Pierre; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers will be David Satterwhite, Tim Satterwhite, Oakley Brown, Steve Barnes, Kevin Walker and Barry Walker. Mr. Clack was born Aug. 22, 1956, son of Thomas Bryan and Sigrid Clack. Mrs. Hopewell was a native of Wadley, born June 3, 1928. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy H. Campbell of Talladega and Lynda H. Peters of Richardson, Texas; and two sons, William C. Hopewell of Oneonta and David P. Hopewell of Harrodsburg, Ky. Services were held Friday, Feb. 24, with burial at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega. Usrey-Brown Funeral Home, Talladega. __________ James William Foster (ATLANTA) James William Foster, 80, of Atlanta died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at South Fulton Medical Center, East Point, Ga. Mr. Foster was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Randolph County, son of the late John Wesley Foster and Mattie Lou Barfield Foster. He was a resident of Troup County and Fulton County, Ga. Mr Foster was a charter member of Forest Home Christian Church in Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Louise Davis Foster, who he said "was the greatest woman on the face of the earth and he could not have had any better." Mr. Foster was raised on Pine Hill Fox Hound Farm. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he served on the Presidential Flagship Augusta C-31 Heavy Cruiser, the vessel on which Roosevelt and Churchill met for the war conference on Aug. 7, 1941. Mr. Foster attended Perry Business College. He loved the Braves and was a University of Georgia football fan. He was employed in the cotton mill industry of LaGrange, Ga., Southern Railway in Atlanta and then in cosmetology, where he received numerous awards and trophies around Georgia. He was an avid coon and squirrel hunter, snapping turtle fisherman and an accomplished gardener, especially fruits and vegetables. He also was an antique car enthusiast and loved tinkering with 1930s cars. Survivors include his children, Thereshia Foster of Atlanta, Maria Knowles of Fayetteville, Ga., Jamie Foster of St. Simons Island, Ga., Pam Labbie of Lilburn, Ga., and Jody Foster of Douglasville, Ga.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Pendergrass of Union City, Ga., Neva Talley, Helen Hazel and Sarah Mickel of LaGrange, Louise Flynt of North Georgia and Ann Nelson of Atlanta. Dorsey L. Ussery, 82, of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange. Mr. Ussery was born April 24, 1923, in Wedowee, son of the late James Robert and Susie Lee Lester Ussery. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and was a member of Baptist Tabernacle. Mr. Ussery was retired from Dunson Mill division of West Point Pepperell. He served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne during World War II. He served at both the Battle of the Bulge and the Normandy invasion, where he earned several medals, including the Silver Star and Bronze Star. He was also a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Guin Ussery of LaGrange; two sons, Jimmy D. of Jonesboro, Ga., and Tom Ussery of Talking Rock; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Opal Ussery and Ruby Ussery. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with the Rev. Frank Sledge and the Rev. She is survived by one daughter, Cindy McLeroy of Anniston; one son, Don Jennings of Houston, Texas; one sister, Lera Mae Bailey of Anniston; one brother, Bill Ford of Oxford; ten grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gussie Moore Heflin, 97, of LaGrange, Ga., died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at her home. Mrs. Heflin was born Aug. 23, 1908, in Red River Valley, Texas, daughter of the late Reeves and Mary Marable Moore. She grew up in the Level Road community of Randolph County. She had lived in LaGrange since 1929, and with her husband, Robert Stell Heflin, operated Heflin's Auto Parts for 38 years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Heflin was preceded in death by two children, Virginia Hood and Rita Lyons. A Randolph County native, Mr. Huey was born Aug. 3, 1949, son of the late Roy Doug Huey and Mary Lou Wilder Huey. He had been employed with Randolph County in the engineering and road department. He loved his friends, his family and Auburn football. She enjoyed working in the yard and gardening, and she assisted her husband with his cabinet business. She was of the Christian faith. Shipp (LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.) Charles E. Shipp, 67, of Lawrenceville, Ga., died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006. A native of Randolph County, he was the son of the late William and Jessie Horton Shipp. A 1963 graduate of Auburn University, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, receiving the Air Force Medal. Mr. Holliday was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Chambers County, son of the late Hosea Holliday and the late Mary Holliday. He joined Rehope Baptist Church and graduated from Five Points High School, after which he joined the U.S. Army in 1953. He retired in 1973 after 20 years in the military and attended Fayetteville Technical Institute to become an auto mechanic, which became his profession. He was a member of St. John AME Church of Fayetteville.
