Roanoke Leader
Cleophus, four-year-old son of Bradfield Alford and wife, colored, living about 
two miles south of Roanoke, was instantly killed last Thursday morning by the 
discharge of a shot gun. There was no one in the house at the time except this 
child and a small brother and it is thought that the two were playing with a 
loaded gun that someone had left in the room.
