On Tuesday 3d inst as we are informed Mr. Mat Alsabrook was killed near 
Arbacoochee Randolph county, Ala., by a negro man (name not given) under the 
following circumstances: As he was passing the cabin of the negro which was on 
the roadside his (the negro’s) dog ran out and attempted to bite Mr. A. who threw 
a rock at him which striking the negro’s cabin so exasperated him he seized his 
gun and ran out and shot Mr. Alsabrook. The shot not proving fatal, the negro 
finished his work of murder with a stone. These are the facts as we gather them, 
and we suppose they are in the main correct. The negro was arrested and 
acknowledged the crime Mr. Alsabrook was formerly of this county, a young man 
having no family we believe.
