Ashland Progress
Mr. John Jep Ayers, resident of Delta Rt. 2, died at his home Monday, October 
10th, at the age of 69. Funeral services were held in Liberty Church in Randolph 
Co., October 11th, with Rev. Dave Craft Officiating. Burial was in the Liberty 
Cemetery with Blair Funeral directors in change. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. 
Montana Ayers, and one son, H. M. Ayers, three sisters, Mrs. O. N. Gregg, Mrs. L. 
R. Roberts, and Mrs. D. T. Morrison.

Additional Comments:
John Jeptha Ayres was born Aug 28, 1885, in Cleburne County Alabama. He was the 
son of Patrick Jeptha Ayres and Martha Eugenia Currie. He married Martha Montana 
Gregg daughter of Mason M. Gregg and Pinnie Cofield. John Jeptha "Jep" Ayres and 
Martha Montana Gregg were the parents of one son Hubert Massana Ayres.  
Jep Ayres was buried at Liberty Church of Christ cemetery in Randolph County, 
his remains were later moved to Christiana Baptist Church cemetery.
