Ayres, 63, of Heflin, died Saturday at his residence after a short illness. Funeral services were scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at Morrison Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren Mitchell, the Rev. George Wiggins and the Rev. Leron Murphy officiating. Burial was in the adjoining Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessie Ayres; a son, Willie P. Ayres of Heflin; six daughters, Mrs. Julian Murphy, Mrs. Roger Prater, Mrs. Ray Williams, Mrs. Frank Wright, Mrs. Harvey Ward and Mrs. Robert Crosson; three brothers, John Ayres, Boone Ayres and Woodrow Ayres; five sisters, Mrs. Vera Lee, Mrs. Ira Green, Mrs. Louise Daniel, Mrs. Eleanor McCord and Mrs. Ora Green, and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Melvin Ogles, Troy Mayes, John Daniels, Solon Lee, Doc Brady and Durward McCord. Mr. Ayres was a lifelong resident of Randolph County and a member of Morrison Chapel Methodist Church.
